21 year old bottle. Deep ruby, notes of cedar, leather and spice. Medium acid and finish. Very food for an old bottle

opens up after 30 minutes with ripened plum/cherry, peaks with good balance, then seems to turn sour around 1 hour, although maintaining complexity.

Decanted 4 hours. Abundant nose of mature dark and red fruit. Medium concentrated on the palate. Flavors less of the same from the nose but none-the-less nice structure and integrated. Balanced toward acid which worked well with grilled marinated flank steak. Better than expected and no need to wait (thought life still left for cellaring).

Excellent Wine, well balanced and structured. Was part of a paired tasting menu this weekend and this wine really stood out. Deep garnet color, fruity nose, long finsih. Paired perfectly with rare lamb. Purchased two bottles on the way out the door.

Beautiful wine. Exceptional balance between fruit and earth notes complimented by great structure and concentration. Aromas of rich blackberry, plum, cigar box, rich tobacco, pork rinds, brush, dry earth, and menthol gave way to similarly complex flavors dominated by blackberry, plum sauce, and sassafras. Delicious!

Wow much better than expected. A great Calif Cab blend...for $25 should have bought more. Very complex with levels of flavors.

Popped and poured. Deep, almost inky garnet hue. Intense aromas of dark fruits, ripe currant, cedar shavings, mint, brown sugar, cigar box, and a touch of coconut from toasted oak. With air, the nose really shows an amazing perfume of pure, minty currant. Medium-plus body. On the palate, this brawny 2003 shows a solid core of dark fruits...the flavors of blackberry and black currant are complimented by tertiary nuances of earth, dried tobacco, dried herbs, and certainly a decent proportion …

Wow. Amazing nose of cassis, blackberry, olive, tobacco, mint, and spice. On the palate, the tannins are still very firm (and mouth drying) but not unpleasant. Bold black fruit. Nice concentration. Medium finish. This will go several more years.

Dark purple with lighter red highlights around the rim. Deep, complex, expressive nose filled with floral notes and cedary oak. Rich, focused, blackberry on the palate. Dry and tannic. Ageable. This is how cabernet should be made. Blended with the classic bordeaux varietals; petit verdot, merlot, and cabernet franc. Can easily go the distance. Excellent for the table. Not over the top, even for the vintage. Balanced and ageworthy. Elegant.

Very smooth with an almost jammy full mouth feel. Not a typical cab, but liked it for the surprise factor.

all I can say is that I wish more CA producers still made cab like this...this reminded me of an old mondavi reserve with a hair less fruit but still enough to last a good decade or longer, and at $25, a bargain for sure! This is the kind of cab that displays more bordeaux like qualities; pencil lead, currants, leather and a heap full of tobacco!! I love it!
