Remarkably for such a earm vintage, this was a balanced glass of orchard fruits, acid and minerality – happiness in a glass. Blind, I would never have guessed this was an 09. I was lucky enough to taste this from magnum while talking with Alex the winemaker. Lovely wine, lovely man

An evening of fine wine and food (Black Salt Restaurant, Washington D.C.) : At first quite a bit reduced, with a somewhat dark hue but not at all premoxed. Indeed, the opposite, which was a good sign. We poured in glass at the beginning of the dinner and waited while enjoying the Cristal. 1 hour of air Straw yellow, with heavy orchard fruit and bright citrus; full bodied with weighty texture and limited acidity. Got better with time.

Another great bottle. Light yellow color. Chalk and minerals on the nose. Good density and complexity on the palate with notes of a sea shell and hints of yellow fruit. This wine is drinking at peak for me.

The 2009 Grandes Ruchottes is drinking well today, great fruit concentration and weight. Compared to the 2013, 2012, and 2011 next to it the 2009 is substantially weightier with more concentrated fruits. Mild reduction with ripe orchard fruits, generous minerals on the palate, creamy and lingering. (85/100)

Classical 2009. Rich and full. Beautiful deep yellow color. Peach and ripe apple on nose with nice balanced oakiness. Long persistence in the mouth with clear acid which moderates the richness typical of the ‘09s. Finishes over long period maintaining the nice balance of the initial impression. Drinking well now and perhaps for 5 to 10 years more.

“Ruchotte” Dinner (Both Colors) (BlackSalt - Washington, DC) : In 09/11/12 vertical. Ripe orchard fruit with slightly sweet spice. Very dense concentration, very good length. The rare 2009 white Burgundy getting better with age.

Ripe apple and pear with very good density, at an almost Grand Cru concentration. Very engaging mineral textures keep the wine in great balance despite the ripeness. Very good length. This wine keeps improving with more time in the cellar.

Popped and poured, then consumed over almost three hours. Started lush and ripe with very good concentration. More floral, spice and nuance kept emerging. This finished with lots of energy as well as the ripe apple and pear from the start. A very good 09.

PnP. Buttery, fresh citrus, streak of minerality, fat and rich fruit which is likely a product of the warmer vintage. Some nice depth here. Drinking well now but can probably hold for another 5yrs+.

(from magnum) A flat out wonderful wine that will not make old bones but is drinking wonderfully and exceeded all expectations (esp alongside Leflaive). Lots of energy, fantastic balance and oak has integrated (a concern I had a few years ago). Delicate lingering mineral aftertaste. Gets deeper and more waxy with air. The favourite chardonnay in a massive global line up, and with extremely experienced taster/growers. Drink now-2025. 96-97pts.

Slightly flinty, talcum, nutty, minerals, feels soft and refined here..even in the nose Beautiful, beautiful, Chassagne, refined yet powerful...the finish goes on forever, I just took another sip...did I say beautiful..I wish I could share with you all Listen to Dougie and buy the '09s in White Burgundy

The Verticals at La Paulee de San Francisco (Westin St. Francis - San Francisco CA) : Ripe apple, peach and good spice aromas. Same ripe fruit on palate, also showcasing big spice. Shorter and less nuanced than its 2007 and 2008 counterparts also tasted here, but this is a white Burgundy anybody who likes wine will find easy to enjoy, even people who don't appreciate white Burgundy.

Domaine Tasting at Bernard Moreau (Burgundy, France) : From bottle at the Domaine. Bottled two weeks prior. The oldest vineyard of the estate, planted in 1939. Very impressive aromatics - creamy yellow fruits, stone fruit and pear with pretty spice. Medium bodied with outstanding balance and a great mineral streak running through it. Long finish. Fantastic!

Same as the last Moreau I just tasted (1er Morgeot): Very ripe. Difficult to taste anything underlying all the sweetness.
