Dusty maraschino cherry on the nose. Taste is underripe red fruit. Almost cranberry. The tannins are velvety but really last. A lot of wood but not in the oak bomb way. Instead it’s green and young tasting. It’s an interesting wine that I am enjoying, however, wife strongly dislikes it.

Retail $40. Responsible Bottle (589g; 20.8oz). Aged in 10% new, 90% neutral oak for four years (!). It has been two years, but this is still solid, with consistent notes. Excellent. 92 Points. www.thedrunkencyclist.com

The fruit is luscious, tart, and expressive, buoyed by plenty of tartness. A bit chewy on the finish with noticeable but subtle tannins.
