Golden in the glass, with a powerful creme brûlée nose - vanilla, custard, carmelized sugar, slight spice. On the palate it was butter and candied pineapple balanced by bright acidity that has persevered through the years. Drink now.

Pineapple & clove on the nose. The initial mouthfeel is crisp with the acidity nicely evolving towards lush buttery apple flavors which gradually diminish while showing tropical & spice notes. Balance was excellent, not too tart or flabby. Long finish

From 750: If rating were based solely on my personal tastes, I'd give the wine an 85. However this is a well made wine, and it achieves what it wants to be. This is clearly a new world wine with California written all over it. It's heavily oaked and extracted, but avoids the temptation of too much residual sugar. Vanilla nose and a full bodied, oaky fruit filled palate. Decent acidity. A little hot on the finish. If you like …

Succeeds in being what it wants to be. Those who love the big fruity, oaky California style will like this well made wine. I don't notice much, if any residual sugar. The oak is in balance, and the acidity keeps this big white from becoming ponderous. That being said, it's not my style, and a little bit goes a long way.

This wine shows everything I dislike about California Chardonnay. That said, in spite of the over oaked , over extracted nature, and residual sugar, the wine hangs together. Good acidity helps hold everything in balance.

NR as i didn't have any, Sedge liked it a lot and asked where he could find it... i did take a sip when i decanted and it felt like a well-made wine of the typical Cali style... not my thing of course... Sedge did say he thought it possible white burg so i suspect the acid must have been sufficient

just didn't work, opened this for some friends who like the big buttery chards and it was clunky and had a weird oaky element that was a bit off putting, didn't get the creamy malo thing and the oak wasn't a positive, may be just in a funky period of development, my 'rombauer' loving friends said it was OK but not great, for me it was a) not my style and b) not performing well even for that style

Well made, well balanced wine. Just a little too California for me. Nose of vanilla and fruit leads to a flavor packed palate dominated by oak. Copious fruit still shows through.Decent finish. Perhaps a touch of residual sugar. A lot to like here, but a little bit goes a long way.
