Very nice drunk with salmon sushi. This wine was loaded with cranberry / current fruit. For me good alone but really stood out with the food. Still plenty of tannin to go more years.

First of three. Drank with grilled Red salmon over fresh garden salad. If you drink it now give it an hour to open up. Good now wit a bit of earthiness and fruit. Still plenty of tannin. I think it will improve with more cellar time. Drink or hold.

Had this bottle since 2010, in fact it has been laying in the same place since purchase. Slow Decated through a screened funnel with surprisingly no sediment then brought to cool room temperature and tasted. The nose is quite rich with plenty of cherry and plum along with a good dose of woody notes, the palate had plenty of old world musty wood, truffles and terroir balanced by sour cherry, bitter plum, ocean spray and spicey cassis. Very pommard nose of dark cherry/black raspberry, some wood--a nice darkish pinot nose with some lift and freshness. Attack is a bit monolithic/agressive and lacks distinction (yes, it's pommard, but this attack is dull), somewhat watery mid-palate, bordering on flabby, and finishes with a slightly bitter and clipped finish with some chewy tannins remaining to be resolved. While this is at the beginning of AM's drinking window, I think he missed the boat on this one. Not by a mile …

This exemplar from pommard delivers very good notes of raspberry and red currant. The palate is very grip and firm like a masculine pinot noir but it has quite a flabby mid palate that takes the compass out of the wine. Was expecting a little bit more

Red Burgundy (Waterford Wine Co., Milwaukee) : dark grey minerality. showing some guts with some sweet maize expressed. determined and directional fruit. palate doesn't show the sweetness of fruit that the chevillon wines displayed. dry and determined with floral hints on the palate.

Some debate about this being a les dix or not and as our man Nick has determined it is indeed a les dix. Shows Pommard too on that note. Grippy back end, strident, assertive. Also delcious. Fun to have next to the Volnay VV from '06.

A little bit of cheese floats over the top of the fruit on the nose. On the palate, deeper, darker, and way more grip than the other girardins tasted alongside. Pommard is apparently known for more aggressive tannins. Opened at 2 pm, tasted between 7 and 9 pm. Note: Ben says this will probably clear the field in about 5 to 10 years.

Red Burgundy (Waterford Wines Milwaukee) : finding some brett up in here as well expressing as some chocolate, yet still in check and adding to complexity. nose is showing a savory soy sauce. a bit more structure than the Volnay and quite the relative tannic pronouncement.

Very woodsy with mushroom and soy on the nose (just opened too by the way). Fleshy, juicy mid palate. I would love to see where it is going to evolve. Has massive potential.
