A beautiful nose of dark cherry spice and smoked wood. Exuberant and intense on the palate with a silky yet also crunchy texture. It builds to a rich, complex finish with notes of smoked spices and minerals. A wine with energy and vigor and superb purity of flavor. Incredibly youthful and will age for decades. One of the best vintages of this wine I’ve tasted.

Ronchi di Cialla Tasting with Ivan Rapuzzi : A fantastic nose! Tuscany-like complex aroma of earth, toffee, prunes, crushed fall leaves, baked cherry pie. A vibrant color (almost identical to the '15), youthful mouthfeel, fleshy cherries yet not as sweet, long and fresh. The minerality and the toned down intrinsic sweetness of the fruit reminds of other mountain varietals like Toroldego. Pure, unique, and delicious wine.

Just a fabulous glass of wine at L'Artusi and this blew me away for its intensity, complexity and freshness. Terrific flavors of red berries and underbrush in a fresh, taut and weightless wine that is nevertheless richly flavored with spices and a hint of peppercorn. Finishes so silky and complex with some notes of herbs and dark cherry. Unique, delicious and very fine!

12 Days of Christmas; 12/21/2017-1/1/2018 (NYC, Vermont, Boston) : I really enjoy this producer and wine particularly with a bit of bottle age. This was drinking really well tonight, dark crunchy fruits with that characteristic black pepper zing on the back palate. Very balanced with the mature dark fruit, minerals and acid all working together to create a lovely mouthful. Would love to drink this one again!

Amber gold. Rich fig, caramel, sweet flavors, with just a hint of oxidation. This is nice stuff.

Clear, deep gold with a hint of amber. The nose is clean, with medium (+) intensity and complexity. Aromas of apricots, pineapple, honey, honeysuckle, vanilla, sweet baking spices. The palate is medium sweet and balanced by medium (+) acidity. The flavors are consistent with the nose but also showing some ripe citrus, a slightly bitter orange peel and toasted almond on the slightly oxidized and sherry-like finish.
