Vanilla forward with a nice acid core; I would look to drink vs age further

Vanilla, apple and brioche. Mature bubbles with good vinosity in this wine. Classic toasty champagne, but not at all overdone.

Clearly oxidated, probably not an ideal conservation. Burnt lemons, corn, boiled potatoes, a bit of peach and caramel but it wasn't enjoyable.

Tiny bubbles. Toasty yeast. Asian pear, citrus peel, and petrichor. Moderately long finish. Excellent QPR and drinking well.

Large scaled Champagne, that didn't immediately read as a Blanc de Blanc. The deeper golden color tip you off as to what you are in for. Very rich, with sizable oxidative and autolytic notes, this has a gingery and slightly roasted feel to the ample fruit. There is a chalkiness and acidic zing that keep this grounded and the dosage hits the sweet spot, where this is neither unnecessarily austere or at all cloying. Stylistically, this is very similar to …

This is a good example of big floral, medium plus finish, enjoyable champagne that competes well with ones above its price range. Tested over few hours, appetizers and meal. Very enticing nose. Lemon and floral on the nose. Even have some secondary notes that I always enjoy on the BdB (and I noticed them more on this one, and in general in '08 vintage ones). Very enjoyable, and works even better with lightly spiced grill fish, and even with light …

In my top tier of the nine 2008s that we tasted in the flight. This was floral, citrusy, with light apple and bright grapefruit. Plenty of acidity here and also mineral. Disg=Feb 2014.

The Rotating Dinners, I.4: Cote des Blancs (Chicago, IL) : Disgorged February 2014, 5 years on the lees, 6 g/L dosage. This was tied for second place for me this evening. This is the type of champagne I seek when I want that racy, mineral style. Super bright acidity, with tons of mineral concentration. A big dose of barely ripe fruit as well rounds this beast of a wine out.

I have unabashed adoration for this wine. It is zippy and flush at the same time. A real powerhouse that epitomizes the beauty of grower bubbly. The 08 and 09 drink remarkably similarly, but this has the advantage of the storied vintage for BdB. Drink or hold.

Golden colored in the glass, with a notable brioche accent on the nose. Likable enough on the palate, although not the most complex champagne. Still, it paired well with our sushi dinner tonight. Lengthy finish.

Drinking great right now, and the extra bottle age since Spring has helped this wine come together. Still young, but very good now. Will improve for laters.

Raid Len's Cellar #3 : Apple and pear with some musk and spice. Dosage sticks out a bit on the palate and I feel like the fruit is lacking a bit of depth for this to be better than good.

I liked it a lot. Lovely balance of acidity, fruit with a bit of mousiness. A lovely champagne

This is all about precision and purity. A core of fresh fruit tinged with chalk, yeast, more savoury gingerbread notes, and beneath there's a spine of powerful acidity that keeps it incredibly light and precise, with a finish that keeps resonating. Fantastic.

Clear straw color. Aromatic nose of yeast, bread dough, citrus peel, and almond. Rich, flavorful palate of yeast, crushed mixed nuts, baked apple, and delicate spice. Outstanding.

Champagne with Mollie Battenhouse DWS, Advanced Sommelier at Maslow6 (Maslow6, TriBeCa) : Pale yellow. Explosive nose, green apple, fig, richness. Delicious smelling. Floors me. This is so good. Mouth-watering acidity but so fantastically rich. Ripe green apple, fig. Yum.

Hi-Time Wine Cellars: "Star Search" Champagne Tasting (Hi-Times, Costa Mesa, CA) : Terrific nose showing minerals, citrus and light bread. The aromas come off almost like a blend rather than BdB. Tight but concentrated fruit. The finish seemed a wee bit short but I really liked this overall. In need of time but good potential.

A: Light gold N: Toffee apple P: Warm vegetal without the 'funk' for JTH. Acacia flowers, apple and a light toffee. Salted pear, minerality and flowers for me. JTH has salty orange slices with light lemon crust cake frosting with walnuts. Medium alcohol (12%). Body a little more full than Moets Imperial Brut. C: Decent balance. Quite dull and in no way worth $63. At least $20 overpriced.

2010 Institute of Masters of Wine Annual Champagne Tasting; 8/30/2010-8/31/2010 (Christie's Auction House, NYC) : Very rich in style Blanc de Blancs. Nose of butter, toasted pear and custard. That same pear comes through on the palate, along with apples and a custardy, creamy finish.

Engagement Celebration at Nick and Colleens (Nick and Colleens Apartment in Luxembourg) : Thanks to Nick and Colleen for sharing this champagne. While it is a BdB it comes off much richer in style like a long aged vintage pinot/chard blend. A deep yellow color meets the eye with a nice mousse. A great nose. The flavors are pears, toast, and honey. Like a white burgundy in the mouth feel. Paired with a veggie tray and a chevre and pine …

(mostly from memory) Pale gold in glass. Huge nose busting out of glass--slightly surprised/overwhelmed whenever I went back to the glass. Mix of sweet fruit, apple pie with a touch of strawberry. Smelled outright delicious. On the palate a good dose of earth and pastry but nice rich fruit as well. Good acid, medium+ length finish. It was so big that I guessed it was a Pinot Meunier/Pinot Noir/Chard blend tasting it blind, surprised to see it was 100% Chardonnay.
