Very nice complexity but maybe best it’s going to be…?

2013 vintage

Part of a Washington State Cabernet night with my wine group, the wine was opened, but not decanted for over 45 minutes before pouring. My WOTN, and I think I enjoyed this a little more than previous bottles of this vintage. Medium+ bodied. Great nose, and on the palate a great combination of WA state blue fruits, spice and medium acidity.

Very much enjoy Four Flags, but the 2013 could be my favorite! (Will need to give a few more years for several to see) Drinking well (very smooth) now…hope you enjoy!

While loathe to copy a pro’s description, what Steve Tanzer has to say is so spot-on that I can’t resist. “Wonderfully dense, fine-grained and broad, combining Latour-like saline, gravel and graphite notes with the vibrant blueberry and mineral aspect of Ciel du Cheval. Seriously structured, sharply focused, very pure wine with lovely floral lift and elegance. Finishes with sweet tannins and outstanding breadth.”

PnP. A great Washington cabernet from a mixture of clones, and as a result full of pretty sweet spice notes not typical of Washington fruit. Excellent for current drinking as well as continued cellaring for some tertiary magic.

Part of a steakhouse dinner with my wine group. Opened, but not decanted for an hour before serving. The group favorite. I think this wine has improved over the past 2 years, although my score remains the same.

With 2 hour decant, dark plummy blue and black berry fruit was actually quite nice. Always going to lack acidity, and expected vanilla and oak present, but overall not too bad!

Opened but not decanted for 30 minutes before pouring at a NYC Steakhouse. My second bottle in just a few months, and very enjoyable.

(From memory) My first bottle from this producer. Really enjoyed this from the first sniff to the last glass. A basis of vibrant, red fruited qualities. Picked up beguiling complexity as it breathed for about 2 hrs until we finished the bottle. A very well made wine that drinks way above its price point.

Finally opened up my first Four Flags wine, and I loved it. I'm such a big fan of DeLille's Chaleur Blanc, that I had high hopes for this and I'm glad it lived up to it. Not a lot of nose to it, but nice taste. Well integrated, deep dark cherry cola, medium finish. Nice and in a good spot

Quite nice at pop and pour with pretty black fruit. Continued to develop on night two. This wine has a long life ahead.

Coravin pour, drank over 2 hrs. I'm surprised how youthful this still is, definitely worth holding some for 5 yrs or more to see it evolve.
