Light gold, vibrant with green flecks. Kaffir lime, lemon rind, beeswax, chalky and slatey notes. Super intense palate, prominent acid, still very fresh and crisp. Toasty and long, really incredible wine, still just cruising. Immediately floods the mouth with intense lemon rind, white almond, subtle honeyed chalkiness. This will outlive me easily under stelvin!

Screwcap, 10.8% alc. Medium gold. Aromas of toast dripping with butter, lemon, lanolin, and a sweet smelling undertone of lychee and peach. The palate is more monotone than the nose and slightly less fruity, tending more structural in character. It’s both a little waxy and watercolour at once, light-medium bodied, finishing moderately long and acid-driven. Opinion: despite the youthful colour and aromatic nose, the palate doesn’t quite instil confidence that this has the legs to develop positively from here. Not …

Clear light yellow. Intense fresh nose, lime, white flowers, stone fruit and water chestnuts. Delicious dry creamy lime and guava flavours. The finish is stony, long and dry. A perfect match with a sunchoke soup.

Screwcap, 10.8% alc. Mid gold with a greenish tinge. Lemon, lanolin, toast, wet rocks, sea spray. Piercing, light-bodied palate, finishing tight, tense, and moderately long. Opinion: Lovely Semillon, in a good place now but with life remaining.

Screwcap, 10.8% alc. Bright, light gold, with a slight green tinge. Fresh nose of lemon sherbet, sea spray, a hint of chlorine and smoky reduction. Only lightly toasty at this stage of its development; amazing for a 15 year old sem. Fresh and youthful light-bodied palate with fruit-driven flavour, electric acidity, and excellent length. Opinion: So much flavour and drive for a compact and light bodied wine. Still a decade in this, yet so tasty and refreshing right now. Great …

Screwcap, 10% alc. Pale gold with a lime hue. More toasty and lanolin filled nose than the recently tasted 05 HVD. Lime, lemon lollies, and passionfruit in the background. There is a grapefruit-like brightness on the nose. Fresh palate, the initial impact being delivered by the bracing acidity. Good length, finishing with a supple, mouth-watering sweet and sour flavour. Opinion: Good wine, and good to go now.

Clear light yellow. Medium intense but beautiful nose, lime, white flowers, bruised apple, lanolin and mineral. Dry lemon lime and wet rock flavours and a textured dry finish. So fresh for a 10 year old white. Got to love these Aussie wines under screw caps.

Screwcap, 10.8% alc. Very full bottle; no airspace under the cork. Youthful, pale-yellow straw colour. Lovely nose that draws you in for more and gives more at each sniff. Lemon, lime, toast, lanolin, sea spray, and peach. Some honey/lolly bag background notes join with passionfruit, rubbed mixed herbs and jasmine upon extended breathing. After a few days open, the nose takes on some Mosel Riesling notes. Soft acid and powdery mouthfeel, yet the wine has quite some grip and texture. …

Not often I drink Australian wines.....however THIS deserves a re-visit . On nose:Meyer lemon and toasted bread. On palate: follow through from above, with faint hints of lilac flower , more intense citrus peel elements and bracing but balanced acidity wedded to a lean , tensile body.....but with intense carry through of flavours ....elements of sea salt complete the long, light finish.....surprised to see the alcohol is a mere 11%.... Great shellfish wine! May lack the complexity of a white Bordeaux …

Screwcap, 10% alc. Building in colour; developing a brilliant clear-yellow with golden hue. Fresh and heady aromas of lime, lanolin, toast, vanilla, and grapefruit abound. The palate is quite high in (seemingly) natural acidity, and presents with sour lemon, lime, and lanolin, with toast in the background. The palate is not as fresh as the nose; the fruit is more subdued and lifeless by comparison. Opinion: Not as interesting nor as vibrant as the 2006. The nose is really seductive, …

Screwcap, 10.8% alc. Youthful, pale, green-gold. Captivating nose of lemon, mandarin, lanolin, mowed grass, toast, with a heady, tropical passionfruit note in the background. More of the same flavours on the palate. Fine chalk-dust tannins. Can taste the dissolved CO2, though there is no spritz now. Long finish, driven by acidity. A candied talc note emerges on day 2, though it’s not distracting, and doesn’t come through on the palate. Opinion: Wonderful wine. Smashable on its own, yet so easy …

Wide open enveloping semillon. Dive in. Or alternatively let it grab your ankles and drag you to the depths. Just a little citrus tang setting off the beeswax mainframe.

Consumed with blue-eye trevella today with lunch. HVD can produce very elegant semillon and this vintage did not disappoint. The light bright yellow appearance in the glass, leads to a beautifully elegant and refined nose typical of Tyrrell's best semillons. The palate is long with hints of lemon and lime with some "Sunlight soap" in evidence. This is as good a Hunter semillon as I have had for some time and I do consume more than my fair share of …

A toasty, limey, honeyed delight. Drinking on Good Friday with fish, has a finish that goes on and on, I may still be tasting it when the kids are hunting for eggs on Sunday. Fabulous! Will drink well for a number of years yet. Alas, this is my final bottle. 94 or 95, length of finish says 95.

Appearance: clear, medium yellow Nose: Lemony citrus aromas, apricot, richness - maybe a hint of honey Palate: Lots of fresh citrus acidity and a little salinity. A touch of developing of richness reminiscent of lemon curd. Hints of chamomile before finishing with yellow grapefruit acidity and a good length.

NobleRottersSydney - Christmas Lunch 2016 (360 Bar & Dining, Sydney) : {screwcap, 10%} A side-by-side tasting from Aaron of the 04 and 06. Wines were very similar indeed, with smoked lemon and seafood aromas; perhaps the 04 has a slighter sweeter, more open tang to the nose. Palates are extremely close too, with lightly buttery richness belying the absent oak or malo; both wines are light/medium-bodied. But there’s just a slight difference; the 2006 has an extra zest of life …

Geek night with Alex and Tim et al. (The Presidio, SF) : (non-blind - my wine) Slightly reductive with toasty notes! It’s starting to transform. Squeaky high acid, vibrant and nervous (and a bit malic). Totally correct.

Screwcap. Pale straw with green hue. Lemon, lanolin, wax, honey, and a slight sulphur element too. Fennel and musk lolly aromas build with airing. Clean, linear palate, driven by the clean lemon and melon fruit. Tight acidity, but not too sour. Opinion: Nice wine. Needs time.

Hunter Valley Roadtrip 2015 : Honey, lime and light toast. Rounding out slightly on the palate, the acidity still gives it really good cut and drive. In a good spot for thinking about drinking this, though another 5-7 years are likely to see it in an even better spot.

Honeyed citrus, buttered toast, body and outstanding length. Only 10% alcohol. Such a hot day today, just right for drinking/glugging this, but perhaps not so much for fully appreciating its maturity. Tough to get the serving temperature right, but at times the finish danced on the tongue. Drinking better in the first hour after opening that four hours later, dunno if that is a reflection on further cellaring potential, but if so then perhaps this has plateaued.

Screwcap, 10.8% alc. Pale straw colour. Lemon, musk, melon and passionfruit. An almost prickly spiciness to it. A hint of grass and lanolin when you peel back the layers. With significant breathing and higher serving temperatures, the nose becomes even more intoxicating; by night 5, takes on more Kaffir lime, marmalade, honey, and lanolin. In the mouth; tight and acidic with a slight spritz. Penetrating lemon, lanolin and soap. Good length and has a fluffy texture across the tongue. Not …
