Columbia Winery Cabernet Franc David Lake Signature Series Red Willow Vineyard

Good fruit- sweet cherry. Very nice smooth finish with a little spiciness. I get woodiness, but not much of the vegetal aspect reported by others that I would expect from a cab franc. Decanted for 2 hours +

Perhaps a bit thin, in colour and consistency. Bright green pepper, and a hint of strawberries.

A relatively light Cabernet Franc, both in colour and in flavour. Was strongly vegital when first opened, but a day later revealed leather and greater depth of fruit.

Bright blueberries and flinty minerals. Drinking well, but could improve more with age. Definately plenty of life left in it.

I have had really good luck with Washington Cabernet Franc's over the past month and the Columbia bottling is right up there with Colvin and Owen Sullivan. The nose is a little woody, but with deep, fat, sweet cherry and blueberry fruit. On the palate is ripe and sweet with a lovely mouthfeel.
