Deep yellow gold. Forward orange peel, pear, and white almonds. Mouth coating palate, nice balance between sweet ripe fruit and acidity. I think this is at its mature plateau and will sit here for a long time.

I am I agreement with the previous reviewer: this is just an excellent wine. Currently has a medium golden straw yellow color. The nose is wonderful with immediate notes of botrytis, honey and beeswax with some slight petrol elements coming out. Beguiling nose of pear and almond cream. The palate is juicy and round, with a zingy acidity as well. Flavors on the palate lean towards candied tangerine and white cherry. The finish shows nice complexity but cuts off abruptly. Stil, this is a very attractive Nahe Riesling in early maturity. Very rewarding to open one now, but I expect this will continue to develop nicely for some time yet.

Thanksgiving Dinner (Los Gatos, California) : Full yellow with a trace of gold. Exotic fruit nose. Rich, rather sweet entry full of pineapple and peach that seems more Auslese than Spatlese. Nicely spicy. The finish is leaner because of soil rather than acidity. Ironically, the impression here was sweeter overall than the 2 Huge late harvest wines that we had with dessert. Same aromas as in March this year (23.03.), but this is more intense and a bit more complex from the start. I'm still unconvinced that this benefits from further cellaring, so my advice is to drink it up over the next few years if optimal stored. But without a doubt it is a hedonistic pleasure to drink this because of its sheer fruit intensity. 5/13/18/7

This just about embodies the finesse of top quality Nahe Riesling Spätlese. Elegance, freshness, intensity, smoky minerality, aromatic green herbs, delicate and flowing, citrus and peach, focus and harmony, great tension, vibrant yet perfectly integrated acidity, intensity without weight, apple and lime finish, very good length. The nose was gorgeous, showing floral and herbal tones, giving way to peach, apricot, a spritz of citrus and earthy floral tones. It was rounder on the palate than past experiences, yet still lively with brisk acidity giving way to sour apple, minerals and lime; almost a yin yang effect of oily texture contrasted by tart fruit. The finish was long with palate-coating mineral intensity and a wave of mouthwatering acidity.

I Love this wine! This is a Riesling with personality. WOW, what a nose on this puppy! Delicate white peach, nectarine. Pungent, musky Insanely intense Chartreuse/lime-oil nose. Tart-apricot, flower, crushed-rock, green & yellow citrus. Expressive, but seriously tight & mineral packed. Great acidity, & spectacular, chiseled, crystalline structure. Elegance, slatey mineral cut, character, sinew & power - has it all. Made as big an impression on me as the GG version. (94+)

Refined example of what Nahe can give to a dry Riesling. Vibrant acidity but coated in the palate with nice fruity and flowery aromas, almost tinkling with little bubbles of remaining CO2, very long finish, a winner in its category !

Light color. Semi sweet, taste is light, not too complex, but rather an enjoyable mid week sipping wine. Dryer than Zind Humbrecht and sweeter than Prager, but in no way close to the quality of either. Fruit is there, but it wears thin after the bottle gets half an hour of air.... December 15th, 2013....second bottle. Different than the first. Sweeter, and slightly darker in color. Still lacking in complexity however. Give it another year to see how it evolves.

Very nice Halenberg trocken. Sour/sweet fruit on the nose, with a tendency towards sour on the palate. Very clean and long (Nahe) finish. Lots of acidity here. In comparison with the 09, this is rather unevolved. Wait a few years for the next bottle. A food wine.
