Montes, Alpha Malbec, Colchagua Valley

Theme was Malbec, blind. Decanted a couple of hours, along with our other wine, 2017 Zuccardi Concreto. The nose out of the bottle seemed a bit sour, especially after the fruity nose on the Concreto. But after it took on air, the nose smoothed out and gained complexity. Color was dark garnet, with a bit of brick at the rim. Palate was quite smooth, dark fruits, some spice. Long finish. For once I enjoyed a Malbec this much. Spicy, blue berries and some hints of green note. Vanilla-oak. Sharp yet smooth on tannin with berries on texture and flavour. Medium finishing. A sense of woody finishing on palate too

dark fruit and spice, touch floral on the nose Fresh but lacking in concentration. A bit watery. Underripe Savoury, earthy tannins and some violets to end off but there's a massive hole where the fruit should be. Very disappointing
