This bottle was corked. The cork seemed fine, so don’t know. Going to try another 2017 later.

I had this for New Years and after a 3 hour decant, it showed a deep garnet color with absolutely no mid-life crisis in sight: zero signs of age. The nose is intoxicatingly rich and voluptuous, packed with cherry and black fruit, kissed by just the right amount of oak. On the palate, it is pure velvet; the tannins are perfectly integrated and it is drinking wonderfully right now. Surprisingly, there is no tertiary development yet. This wine is apparently …

This wine was FUN-KY after opening. Disjointed nose vs palate for the first 30 minutes. If you take the cork out of this one, trust me.... Don't even stick your nose in it. Just put it in the corner and come back to it after a half an hour. It had a great nose after 30 minutes. The palate was aged red and black fruit, barbecued spare ribs, definitely showing some age but savory notes were very noticeable and very …

Tannins completely integrated, fruit still there. No tertiary notes, and not confident it would get there as it seems ready to drink. But overall very good. 94

17 minutes double decanted and consumed at Fleming's Steak House during a 2 hours spam. This wine has it all, it's medium plus body, resolved and well integrated tannins, secondary notes and very enjoyable earthy notes. Excellent finish. Drink or hold.

An amazing bottle of wine. Out of the bottle, it was very fruit forward. After an hour decant, it developed a beautiful backbone of oak. First tastes are of deep red and black fruit with a pleasant level of oak and tannins. Just spectacular. Served with 3 inch thick bone-in rib-eyes, baked potatoes and grilled corn on the cob.

Meant to grab a 2016 from the cellar but I guess I wasn’t paying enough attention. This is a wild fire vintage so the blend has no merlot and it kind of shows. This is a little more angular (or not as round) than my perspective of what quintessa is. Definitely young but with enough air it was drinking well with a steak. Nice dark fruit and good structure. Still, I wish I paid more attention. Was planning on 2016…

First time drinking Quintessa. Gave it about 2.5 hours of air. Lovely open nose with crème de cassis, blueberries, a hint of tobacco and cedar. Showcases Napa fruit while maintaining a lovely elegant and restrained style. Very enjoyable overall though I think there are similar quality wines available for less

Bright nose of mint, mushroom, fleshy dark berries, some crushed stones. The palate has red and black berries framed by some oak notes that were not at all obtrusive. Nice sense of polish without feeling too slick or flashy. Not quite the length I would have hoped for, which is my only small gripe. Nicely made.

Opened and let sit for an hour before tasting, and it still wasn't quite ready - but within 15 minutes or so it had decided to open up enough. At first we just got tar and acid, which sounds more like a way to dispose of a bitter enemy, but soon the fruit began to reveal itself. It was slow at first, but then the train was rumbling by, picking up speed, and by the time we finished the last …

Davyd Bday party at Meyer. Tasted blind. Drank in Sydonios Meridonal. Appearance is clear, deep intensity, ruby colour. Legs. Nose is clean, medium+ with aromas of expensive milky vanilla chocolate oak, fruity blackberries, black cherries, dark currant, coffee grounds, peppery spice, sweet corn. Some Rutherford dust on hindsight and more air. Developing. On the palate, dry, medium+ acidity, high alcohol (14.5%), fine high tannins, full body. Medium+ flavour intensity, with flavours of minty cedarwood, coffeebeans, exquisite vanilla milk chocolate, blackcurrant, …

The nose consists of ripe black berries, pencil lead, loam and mint. Wonderful balance of tannins and acidity. Terrific layers of ripe red fruit, dried figs, cocoa, black pepper and mint. We love this wine.

ATL Wine Tasting Group - Holiday Tasting - "Bring the Heat" (ATL Location) : Wine #4 in blind tasting of 5 (plus others non-blind) Big change from Rioja ('01) tasted previously. Black in the glass. On nose, blackberry jam, blackberry, cedar, cinnamon. Full body, medium acidity/tannins and very long finish. Palate flavor profile consistent with nose. Beautiful wine. Guessed CA Cab and was correct.

This '14 CS from Quintessa was served at the winery along side with the 2021, 2018, and 2013. This came in second overall for the day. This wine may be showing the most 'in-window' out of all the vintages we tried at the winery. This isn't too much of a surprise based on what we were drinking but i found the 2014 incredibly enjoyable today. On the nose, most rustic and dirt driven with dusty blue and black fruits. On …

A "great California" red blend is a generic sort of way. Well-made, crowd pleaser that has no characteristics distinguishing it from many other Napa blends.

The 2016 is now ready. It’s a very good cab, showing classic Napa fruit without become a bomb. At ~8 years it’s ready to drink, starting to show additional complexity and is very enjoyable. Can also keep for years to come. Drank next to a 2005 SHL so it was not WOTN but it was great nonetheless.

A really awesome bottle of wine. Opened 4 hours in advance of going out for my wife's birthday dinner. The nose was all fruit, the palate was red and black berries, some cherry, cassis, tobacco, cedar and hints of baking spices which came out on the long finish. Drank against a 2017 Realm Moonracer and this was the birthday girls preferred wine.

Dark ruby, minimal bricking. Deep nose of black currants, red cherries - mature, with a hint of dried porcini. Very nice acidity and quite tannic (I opened the bottle and let it breathe for one hour), with a perfectly dense palate showing black currants, blackberries, dark cherries, tobacco leaves, nothing much tertiary yet but in such a great spot now! Ending is long, with a hint of sandalwood and lingering currant and blackberries notes. This did not disappoint. Have two …

Aged perfectly in this big Methuselah 6L bottle. The absolute hit of our wedding bar. So many comments and questions about this delicious wine! One of the best Quintessa we’ve had. Definitely felt this wine was at a prime in its aging for enjoying. I’m sure it could have gone many more years and still been extraordinary, but happy we picked this wine to be the primary bottle for our big day. We always love quintessa and this 2014 was …

Not your typical ripe & sweet Cali wine. Without any adjustment for price, this was a 93 rating. Didn’t really improve with any additional air beyond the initial 30 to 45 minute decant. Decent nose and fairly complex but nothing that screams wow! This is a bottle that trades way above its value. A blind tasting would guess $70 to &90 bottle but $240!?!? Insanely overpriced. This Quintessa couldn’t hold a candle to a $60 Barolo or Brunello. Glad I …

I found this single bottle languishing in my mother in law’s cellar, so I brought it along to dinner at a French bistro. My first Quintessa, so I can’t speak to how this wine compares to better vintages. This was a tasty Bordeaux blend with a classic Rutherford mouthfeel, rich black fruits, black cherries layered with cedar, Asian spices, chalk, and some dark chocolate.

Absolutely stunning! Last bottle and well worth the wait. Opens up with superior fragrances of cedar and spice. Beautiful color with slight bricking. A couple hour decant helped coax out flavors mocha, ripe plums and medjool date. Medium weight, yet rich and broad. Very fine precipitate. Still retains freshness and tannin balance, so could got longer for certain, but at the apogee now.
