Horsepower, Sur Echalas Vineyard Grenache, Walla Walla Valley

Opened a bottle this and Cayuse 2019 GOK for a comparative tasting at a group dinner. Having experience with wines from this producer, I decanted both heavily more than 24 hours in advance of serving. Both wines had been acquired on release, stored properly, and appeared to be in good shape upon opening. THE BEST OF all the 2019's which i have not loved at all, but this is good

Double Decant. Some fruit comes out to play but not much. Floral. Meaty. firm tannins. Its very feral. I like it. It doesn't wow. For me at this price point, Id rather have 2 or 3 bottles of the other guys stuff.

Horsepower Grenache is quickly becoming my favorite of the vineyard. This is just excellence in a bottle. Really opened up after 2 hours in the bottle.

Cayuse style

Ripe savory concentrated black raspberry, red plum, bay leaf, green olive tapenade, orange zest, sassafras (the root, vanilla, and allspice), and just a little black licorice and dried mushroom powder. Plump body with a light grip. M/M+ acid and tannin. M+/Pronounced intensity. M/M+ body. At least at the moment, I'm getting a M/M+ finish. Very Good.
