13% alcohol. The cork is long and of commendable quality, with minimal inscription. Pale golden colour. The nose is fresh and flowery with a citrus note added. Similarly balanced in the mouth but more complex. Excellent acidity and yellow plum; some fresh apple too, as well as honey without the sugary element, if this makes sense. Classy and in excellent condition, something that I do not take for granted in a nine year old white Burgundy. Neither thin nor broad, …

13% alcohol. Good cork. The colour is pale gold, immediately negating any fear of oxidation. Lovely nose of yellow flowers with just a touch of sweat (in a nice way). Very fresh in the mouth in a bracing but not agressive, way adding a flavour of fresh apple; very elegant and well balanced. Just the ticket with poached gurnard and new season asparagus. PS: looking back at my previous note, I see that I enjoyed the wine much better this …

13% alcohol. The long cork is of reasonable quality; it bears no meaningful inscription apart from the vintage. Bright hay colour. The nose is not the most forthcoming, but it shows elegant notes of dried flowers and white fruit. The mouth is better still with well judged balance and a long finish; lanolin too. Not particularly intense, but quite civilised. A bit overwhelmed by a dish of grilled red mullet; much better on its own afterwards. Very good, but I …

13% alcohol. The cork is pretty good. Medium golden colour, clearly dispelling any anxiety about oxidation. The nose is very appealing with yellow flowers including gorse, while showing some restraint too (in a good way). Similarly balanced in the mouth, with good length and good grip. There may be a slight lack of intensity, but better that than anything overblown; nevertheless, on this sample I cannot say that the recent elevation to 1er cru is blindingly obvious. In perfect condition …

Wonderful nose of white flowers. The palate is soft and subtle at first but there's powerful finish marked by the sort of acidity you more often find in Puligny. Really very good.

13% alcohol. Good dense cork with minimal inscription. The colour is medium gold and very pure. The nose is pleasing in an understated way with yellow flowers mixed with fresh apple. The mouth is similar with a refreshing quality and a vaguely Chenin-like aspect. Not terribly concentrated, but pretty satisfying nevertheless, with nothing buttery, flabby or oaky. Certainly much better than the Creuzettes of the same vintage and producer that I had recently. Sur la Roche is one of the …

13% alcohol. Very good long dense cork. Rich golden colour, just short of causing concern. The nose is mellow with quince-like aromas and distinct notes of confectionery. The mouth is similar, rich and pleasant with a hint of toffee but somewhat marred (for me) by a certain lack of energy and tension; slightly bland as a result. Quite different from other wines at this address (from memory). Unlikely to improve, in fact at or slightly beyond its peak. Not a …

17 months on from my previous note, I'm liking this rather more. The TN from JP Abela (below) matches my experience exactly (although I don't have any more bottles to come back to in a few years!).

13% alcohol. Long cork of medium density. Carafed an hour ahead. Pale youthful colour with a remnant of green tinge and a crystalline purity. The nose is engaging, with apple, and yellow flowers. The mouth is elegant and balanced, slightly on the lean side. No oak in evidence. There are richer wines in the Macônnais, but few purer ones. Went quite well with turbot, although a slightly richer wine would probably have been a better match. A repeat purchase.

Note: 15,75-16/20 i.e. 89-90/100

I guess I'm probably drinking this (way) too young, and, although I like the wine, I don't find it great value at US$30. It definitely needs time to open up: initially it is very closed, little fruit, a little much acidity. After an hour, and at perhaps 16-17 degrees the fruit becomes more apparent, both on the nose and the palate, along with quite a strong minerality, and still significant acidity. The finish is quite long. It absolutely needs food …

13% alcohol. Cork of medium density. The colour is pale and of crystalline purity. The nose is intense with floral notes evoking gorse. The mouth is very satisfying with white fruit flavours, good length and excellent balancing acidity. Purity and elegance are the words that come to mind, and in fact these apply to all the wines of this producer that I have tasted so far. A repeat purchase for sure.
