PnP. Beautiful garnet to medium purple with semi clear rim. Medium fruit with cassis spice and hint of green cedar. Palate is well balanced fruit acid and tannins. Blackberry black cherry and earthy spice. So well balanced. Very near peak.

Finding more dark fruits, blackberry notes, smooth middle with some finishing tannin. Somewhat more dense with more full body than previous bottle.

Medium plus weight. Fruit forward, mixed red and black fruits. Fresh with acidity in mid palate and finishing tannin. Decent drinker.

This wine is made for alcoholic termites. I am part alcoholic termite, so I kinda liked it. But it is so woody and has so much heat, many will be turned off. Bright cherry, vanilla, smoke, cough drop. Aging well for a crianza. Buy if this your style.

Call me crazy but a peanut brittle nose after a few hours open. Soft worn tannins with black cherry fruit> Ready to drink. Great QPR.

light body, brick color, aromas of barnyard funk give way to cassis and paprika, acidic spicy fruit with mouth filling finish, first night 87, second night gone! 75 too bad; what a waste!

Barely an average wine from my cellar; was expecting something more integrated for a 2009. Darn..

This was loaded with cherries and dark fruit, and seemed to have a little more depth and complexity at this stage than the 2011. These were both really good. Spain is such a good source for fairly priced wines!

This was a solid wine with rich, thick, fruit. It also had a little bit of structure that kept it from being a jammy mess (don't get me wrong, its swimming in primary fruit, but just not to the same extent as some domestic sub $20 reds). I've had a few other Spanish wines at this price point that I prefer so I'm not rushing out to buy more. However, I've also had a ton of Spanish wines at this …

This has developed nicely sinc my last tasting, about 18 months ago. The acidity and tannin complement the mostly blackberry fruit well. Some leather, spice and licorice and to the complexity. The oak is well integrated. Very close to the WS 92 rating.

Really nice round, full, and balanced wine. Strong oak worked well with smokey toffee, coffee elements.

There is some oak on the nose with flavor of cherry and a long finish. Excellent wine.

Had a WS92 sticker on it and I must confess it worked on me; figured it must be decent. And I was pleasantly surprised that the "experts" found a good one! Prominent but not cloying fruit flavors with acidic lift, structure and length.

A nose of some dark fruits and spices, dark garnet in color. A medium to full bodied red, with black cherry, cherry, licorice and spices on finish. www.winelx.com

I found this a bit too tannic. It took a while to open up and even then the fruit flavors where somewhat muted. I would give it more time.

Very nice Riberal del Duero. Aster is La Rioja Alta's Ribera project. Has some of that LRA sweet fruit and coconut, but with a darker, spicier tempranillo character. The oak is subtle and well integrated and doesn't lay heavy on the wine as is too often the case with Ribera del Duero. Nice wine, nice value!

Nose is pleasant with cherry and licorice. Nice and soft, but strong tannins indicating a long (5-8 years) life ahead. very nice QPR.

100% Tinta del País from the vineyards; Fuentecojo and El Caño around the winery near Burgos planted at an altitude of 780 meters. Aged for 22 months in French oak, 70% new and 30% two years old. Saturated ruby in colour this is opulent with püre blackberry aromas along with toffee and milk chocolate. Deep, round, velvety and elegantly concentrated.

Still a bit primary with bright cherry flavors, good acidity and moderate tannins. I would expect this to gain more depth and complexity with a few more months of cellaring when all the components come together.

Tannic, and more in keeping with LRA house style than the ripe, chocolatey 08. This has good depth of fruit, and hint of oxidative bright cherry fruit, plus tar and leather.
