Rather light colour. Wonderful nose of overripe black fruit, forest floor, cedar wood. A hint of alcohol but very slight. Soft and well integrated tannins. The palate falls short of the nose though, at least during the first hour or so. Is it because it comes after Marcel Deiss Burlenberg which was phenomenal? The wine really improved after 2 hours. I had read a lot about this, so maybe higher expectations. It’s a pleasant wine overall, specially at this price …

Just another Monday night with C&L (Sterndale) : Last bottle of the evening, incredibly well put-together and glorious profile.

Beautifully structured. Still so young but already delicious. Needs long decant but great textured tannins, bright acidity, cherries, crushed granite, subtle herbs. Will look for more and will only get better with a few more years. Tremendous value. Apparently from same vineyard as it’s big brother BdM. Highly recommend.

Stellar wine. This delivers way over his price point. Classic Italien red wine, would’ve called a Brunello blind. Can easily rest for a few years, but it’s so good right now so why wait?

Elegant, textural mouthfeel -- the best part about this wine. Dark color and expressive flavors, but nothing too heavy or ponderous. Classic red and dark fruits and that Tuscan "hot sun / sweet grass" element that solid Montalcino wines bring to the table. Make no mistake, this is a decommissioned Brunello rather than some entry level Toscana Rosso.

Red cherry, plum, leather, cedar, vanilla and herbs all detected. A very enjoyable bottle which drinks like a baby brunello.

So good, what a great buy. Couldn’t be anything other than Italian. Astringent but with ripe flavours, red fruit mainly sour cherries, secondary notes of leather, herbs. Concentrated with decent length but in no way overbearing and a good food wine. It’s young - tasted a few times and has been best with a a few hours’ decant. This has more energy and charm than several other Tuscans with a higher price tag - so have ordered another case.

Very young but intriguing and engaging. For me it had this unique sense of lightness but mid and back palate power/depth of flavour - always lifted due to the acidity. Mid weight and bright colour. Cherry and dark plum with deep blended savoury and baked spice complexity. Got better and better with time.

So red! cherry, strawberry, good acidity. Somewhere between chianti and bdm, in a well-balanced way.

Just another Tuesday night (Sterndale, with Chris) : This was lovely, depth and complexity and intensity and body of Brunello. Bright and fresh, enjoyable, energetic and lovely soft long finish. Greatly enjoyed.

This is a well made wine. Tasted blind it was clearly Italian, I incorrectly guess Barolo. Note of violets, licorice, dark cherry cured ham and cedar. Great acidity, grippy and youthful but already showing great poise and harmony. Will certainly improve with a few years of proper cellaring.

Seamless is a great way to describe this red wine with intense aromas of plums, cherries, walnut and sandalwood. Some lightly toasted oak, roses and lavender as well. Really aromatic.
