Library Release. The cork disintegrated when attempting to remove it, but my concern was unfounded. The wine was medium garnet in color with low viscosity. There was no sediment in the bottle. Despite the vintage, the bouquet had hints of strawberry and cherry. The taste brought to mind a cherry Jolly Rancher. The body was light to medium with a smooth texture and a relatively short, slightly acidic finish. This was my last bottle of this wine and it was …

Still drinkable, but this bottle didn't have much fruit in it. It was clearly past its best days with more than a hint of, "I'm going bad; you should have opened me two or three years ago." Still, you could detect what likely was at one time something complex and beautiful.

Library Release. The cork disintegrated upon opening, so I was concerned, but this was a delightful wine. I had another 2001 that was well beyond its prime, but this one, my last 2001, held up impressively well. Hints of fruit and an admirable level of complexity remain. This wine had an easy mouthfeel. After a long week, this made my Friday.

Way past it’s time. Still drinkable but no reason to force issue. Best option, open, let sit for 2 hours, then pour down drain.

Cork was intact, Cole was heavily bricked, nearly translucent, nose was less than desirable. First note was very slight fruit but tart. Earthy, reminiscent of barnyard. Not horrible but agree with others, best days are in the past.

I recently received this as part of a CVV library release. The cork was in pristine condition, but this wine's best days were clearly well behind it. With barely a hint of the wonderful fruit that originally went into the bottle, the obvious presence of acetic acid made me think--as I puckered away--that this was better served tenderizing a nice steak. Still, I couldn't help but to drink it--I had no steak, after all--and to merely imagine how glorious this …

Lighter style, dried cherries, cola and blood orange, very tasty. Finish is shorter than several years ago, but the wine is still very enjoyable: time to drink up...

Consistent with note of 10/13/09; all gone, so sad.

Similar to previous bottle. Light-to-medium body, cherries, bloody orange, pinot funk and good medium+ finish. Nice pairing with seared duck breast. Very enjoyable wine.

This was the least enjoyable bottle of the 3 that I drank. Similar aromatics to the previous bottles but this wine came across a bit limp and dead on the palate in terms of flavor. Thin, watery mouthfeel. Acid still present, tannins pretty much gone. Drinkable but definitely not as enjoyable as previous bottles. Not sure if this was just a slightly off bottle or if this wine is on a serious decline but I would drink up if you …

Really good pinot. Light body. Great nose: cherries and some funk and earth. Good tannins and acidity. This should be held at most a few years longer.

Thank Heavens for bottle variation! This was much more impressive: you could smell the pinot fruit from across the table as it hit the glass, a waft of cherry and loam; on the palate it had ripe cherries and some earth. It was light but intense, with racy acidity and a clingy, persistent finish. Much, much better than the last bottle. Red of the night, according to the table, and up there with the '90 Baumard QdC for the top …

Solid brick, with a thin rim. Cherry nose, cherry and strawberry palate, with some loamy notes and slghtly darker fruit emerging after a few minutes. No tannin to speak of, but substantial acid gives it structure. Kept hoping for something more profound to emerge, but it's a nice, light, older California Pinot just as it is.

Much more enjoyable experience than initial bottle. Brick color with hints of amber at the core. Pleasant nose of cherry, strawberry and forest floor aromas. Similar flavors on the palate with a very nice cranberry component. Light body, silky smooth, tannins all but gone but the acidity kept this wine somewhat vibrant. Nice tart finish and overall a really enjoyable aged CA pinot.

Nice light pinot. The cork was covered in sediment but the wine is very fine almost transparent. with deep light red color. It starts a bit non-interesting cherries and mushrooms on the nose and standard pinot palate, but after 45-60min in a glass it is much more aromatic and turn into cherries, smoke and orange nose. Body was light and smooth with nice cherries, candy, spice, again some orange and earthiness, nice finish. Some residual sweetness but otherwise almost burgundian. This …

Popped and poured. Very light color with some signs of bricking at the rim. Very old world on the nose with earthiness, a little mushroom and a hint of brett. Not a whole lot of fruit on the palate other than some light cherry flavors and more old world earthiness. Very smooth on the mouthfeel and finish with whatever tannins this wine once possessed being gone long ago. I would say it is past its prime but I would assume …
