2000 Lunch (Old Bazaar Kitchen) : 0659/1462. Opened two hours prior, not enough air! Signature linear Leroy aromatics, vintage acidity beautifully expressed, hue of dark earthy notes. All fireworks up and down. 93+

Dark smoky red color with nearly full transparency. Aromas of strawberry, mushroom, leather, tobacco, and cherry. Palate has porcini mushroom, strawberry, meat, and leather that carry into a medium-long finish. This has a herbal spice note that carries it to a floral character with time open. Delicate and meaty at the same time. Winemaking trumps site here and what winemaking it is. Delicious. Drink.

Smoky garnet color with some lightening at the rim. Sweet red fruits, smoke, leather, and licorice on the nose. Cherry and strawberry intertwined with black licorice and leather on the initial palate attack. This transforms to include stony and floral elements. The structure here is delicate and solid at the same time. Delivers "Leroy-ness" but is no longer a primary, showy experience. Drinking well and will likely hold for some years at this level. Stuffing does not appear to be …

Medium garnet fading to a tawny rim. Nose is developing and is intense, ripe cherries and prunes. Combines evolution and freshness. Sweet spices, liquorice, leather, stoney minerals and some medicinal band aid at the background (you might call it mushroomy if you want to be more polite). Very fine in the mouth, medium to full bodied with peppery notes, cherry and strawberry and vanilla. Medium acidity and tanins are somewhat unripe, but still very pleasant. Given airing it got better.

Typical Leroy with all its whole bunch lift and perfectly seasoned wood. The fruit is vibrant and energetic with real depth and concentration. Underneath all of the sweet, user friendly sexiness, lie some sultry, iron and meat tones, waiting for more bottle age before they come out properly. Leroy made some outstanding wines in 2000 and this is certainly one of them.

(at The Modern – NYC) Second time in a week and this showing is equally as impressive. Rich pinot color of saturated cherry juice. Intoxicating aroma of red fruits, earth and herbs. The stature of the nose just grew and grew with time in the glass. The palate again did not fail to deliver as there were harmonious, but intense, waves of flavor with a long finish. Extraordinary wine for its level – not too many people can make a …

(at The Modern – NYC) The wine of the night for me. Has the Leroy 'feel' in the mouth. Penetrating depth of flavor while relatively light on the palate. This is all red fruit and cherry and it lingers on the palate for a long time. A mild earthiness only adds complexity. Superb and a bargain on the list. Outstanding village wine. (93)

This is my 2nd time testing this wine. Because of LaTache 1992, Les Amoureuses 1999, Griotte Chambertin 1999 and Lignier Clos de la Roach 2000, my score has a little bit changed to be 95/100. But it's still Rock 'n' Roll to me. Maybe it can not be the winner but it never be the looser too.

This really beautiful new design bottle with wax-sealed contains the most delicious and ready-to-drink Pinot Noir !!! Very seductive nose of new oak, medium to full-toasted, along with loaded of blackberry, kirch, mild woody scent, deep in layers !!! In the mouth, so goooood, so delicious, nice acidity and complex, very big and round, full-bodied and beautifully well-made...Yummy !!! This is one of the most powerful, in too deep and very long aftertaste. It holds me still..controls me...more than 5 …

Bottle brought back from TW, Atherton. Dense and complex, earthy notes, young but potential visible.
