No decant, wine immeadetely was generously open when cork was out. Dark color. Dark fruit, black current, chocolate, tobacco. Medium and silky finish but not as charming as I expirienced in other vintages. This one -although clearly a californian- was a bit Bordeaux-ish in the finish. Drink up.

At 29 years old - not bad Decanted for over an hour prior to drinking. Color was good with a slight tinge of brown at the edge. The body was medium weight, the clarity was very good (I used a strainer). Not a lot going on at the beginning, middle to end had some berry flavors , the finish was thin. Nothing wrong with this but not dynamic. Everyone that had it enjoyed it.

Somehow had this bottle sold in my country (A rarity) and did an event with this wine at my restaurant. I was quite surprised how elegant a Berringer can be, especially for a 100% Cab Sav. BYO USA (Centropa, Oslo, Norway) : Mørk, tett farge, dyp mørk kjerne med svak brunlig kant. Erketypisk bordeaux-preget med duft av blyantspiss, cedertre og solbær, men mindre sødmefull enn de yngre cabernetene i flighten. Utviklet på smak, godt grep med modent bærpreg, god dybde og konsentrasjon. Det er godt med garvestoff og vinen tar godt tak i munnhulen. Topp Napa-cabernet som fortsatt virker ungdommelig og med mange gode år igjen.

Very good classic Cali cab. Mature fruit and a fair amount of nuance and depth in the more mid-weight style that California use to do more often. It may be starting to dry out, so I wouldn't wait too much longer to drink.

Drank the last of this vintage and in my opinion it is at or just past its peak. Last prior bottle consumed was about two years ago and while I cannot compare taste to then it is getting a little thin. Drink up 26 years is a pretty good run

This has aged well and retained intensity and power. Not too much evolution into Bordeaux aromas of age. Just slightly introverted next to the singing Opus one.

Fantastic. People drink high end Napa cabs way too early. I disagree with others. I think this has lots left in the tank. Long smooth Finish with lots of fruit left. Not really a barnyard funk that you get with older Italian or Bordeaux wines. Which I miss. Yet a really elegant high end wine. Older Californians Surt & Turf Dinner (McKay's, The American Club, Exchange Square, Central, Hong Kong) : More purple tinged than the ‘87 we drank alongside it. This wine has been so under appreciated by many cellar tracker aficionados imo. Colour red brick meniscus with dark red concentrated centre. Forget the predominate legs just glycerol furthermore no jammy taste either! Nose predominately soft vanilla oak & red fruit plus cassis with subtle black current lozenge aromas and a hint of spice. Beringer CS Reserve is a favorite of mine and this vintage lives up to it. Lots of tobacco and earth accompanied by robust tannins. Not much life left in it but still great. Super finish that delicately lingers in the mouth.

To my palate a 90-91. If you disregard the jam, perhaps a 93-94? How to objectively score... take the midpoint 92? I'll go 91 for my own records... Double decanted for chunky sediment and drank over two hours. Ripe, modestly jammy and bit cloyingly sweet with a sweet finish. I found it hard to enjoy. Perhaps with more air the jammyness dies down?

Not bad at all! Sweet aromas with hints of mocca and chocolate. Medium bodied, nicely integrated tannins. Decanted for an hour and a half, after an hour in the glass it is still developing. I don't think it will get much better though but will probably keep for a year or two in a decent cellar.
