Fuller bodied red wine. Blackberry, earthy, inky leathery on the palate. Medium tannins. Not to my taste.

1 hour decant, 60 F. Ruby color of medium depth. Lovely, enticing nose of strawberry and raspberry fruit, cedar, mint and potpourri. Supple, silky mouthfeel, well integrated alcohol, fading acidity. Blackberry fruit on the palate, with notes of raspberry, lead pencil, dried oak, black tea and the slightest hints of dark chocolate. Lingering finish of sweet tobacco, black pepper and dark fruits. Great QPR.

overall if you've found this for $20 or less, I think you'll be happy. the wine is not quite jammy, with black cherry and red fruit, some violet, earthyness or mushroomy characteristics on the nose. not quite complex enough to go above a 90+ score but a nice wine

A nice medium-bodied red blend, but not as "rich/flavorful" as I have come to expect from the Mendoza red-blends.

My prior notes apply: Blue and red berries, the meaty mid palate, and the incense/floral notes combine in a really lovely way from fore to aft. The 6 months have added a soupon of plumminess to the mix, and those incense notes have come forward more as well, cradled in earthiness. And that's it for my half case. Wish I had more. Day 2 Maintained a high standard.

This keeps getting better with every bottle. Supple and gracious, blueberry, raspberry, incense, and floral potpourri set the olfactory stage. The palate carries the same notes, but is accompanied by a certain meatiness, and finishes with a gradual, gracile lift. No decant, and it took about an hour and a half for it to properly open up.

Dark ruby red. Smells of fig and baking spices. Tastes of blackberry, leather, pepper, and baking spice. Soft tannins. A little bitterness. A good wine, not among my favorites.

A lot less fruit than the previous 2 bottlesage or bottle variation? Can definitely taste the alcohol on this one. Drank half then vacu-vined. Will drink the other half this weekend.

Note of Cono_Sur is spot on. Given the many elements on display, the retention of balance is a big plus. Also, of note a $20 Cab mix without the artificial wood chip vanilla taste, centrifuged reductive jelly and imbalance which define Cali cabs at this price point. [When will wood chipping disclosure be enacted by consumer fanatical CA?]

Agreed, prior notes apply. I feel the avg 89 is bit undescored. I give it a 91. The wine drinks well with a pnp but continues to improve on day 3. A great crowd pleaser.

Color deep ruby. Body medium+ Alcohol high, tannins medium to medium+, acidity medium. Finish medium. Aromas of ripe black currant, oak, ripe black cherries. Palate consists of the same, and maybe some black pepper. This isn't bad for the price!

Blend of 70% Malbec and 30% Cabernet Sauvignon, the rich, elegant nose is highly aromatic with notes of ripe black-red-purple fruits, stony minerals, earth, currant, cassis, and spice. The medium-full bodied palate is very ripe with a rich array of red, black, blue, and purple fruit that balanced with savoury, stony minerals, white pepper spice, and earthy flavours. Acids are fresh and lively, while the supple, refined tannins have a subtle textural grip. Juicy with smoky mineral notes lingering on …

Delicious, but needs a lot of air. I opened this bottle 3 hours before my meal, and it was pretty good. But on day 2? Silky smooth. Plum forward, medium tannins, medium+ finish, ending on earthier tones. Moderate acidity.

Found this one in our cellar. PnP with take-out Japanese in a hotel room. Deep red with some brown on the edges. Muted berry and hay on the nose. Medium body. Well integrated. Notes of dark cherry, blackberry and plum. Still drinking quite well 16 years later. Excellent storage certainly gave this wine a helping hand.

Decanted for 2 hrs, melted the tannins and showed some harmony in the glass. Close to the end of its drinking window IMO, but if I can choose I'd have drunk all the bottles I had at this stage - somehow charming and more elegant than the younger versions of it.

As "sophiesmom" notes, "Let it breathe, let it breathe, let it breathe...", I decanted it for 4 hrs, and a bright fruit with very well managed solid body, still a bit aggressive but in a good way. This one will outperform most of the 12-13 Eur rivals, it will not change your world but in the condition the wine is at the moment with 6+ years of age and this price tag - it is job well done.

A 50/50 blend of Cab and Malbec. At first, the Cab (along with the oak) is a little obtrusive. But, after an hour or so, the wine is well integrated, sumptuous, and well balanced. Nice dark fruit flavors, very nice savory components at mid-palate, and tasty long finish.

Dark ruby color. Cherry, vanilla oak, and blossoms on the nose. Lots of dark chocolate and tobacco make for an intense palate that can be enjoyed out of the bottle or mitigated with a couple hours in the decanter. Tobacco finish lingers with nice acidity. An hour or more in the decanter recommended to tame this "Mendocino vigoroso."
