drank about 2 hours after decanting, but really not sure why most of the sediment was poured into the decanter. The wine was soooo fragrant, with mint, pencil lead, and sweet cassis notes. Later on we also got smoky and savory mineral notes on the nose. The wine was riper and sweeter on the palate than expected based on previous experience.

Brentwood Auction purchase. Cork was in great shape even though the label had been seen better days. Comparing others notes, I'm guessing this was suffering from premature aging due to storage conditions. Maybe even light exposure. Definitely not enough fruit to carry the heat that was dominate at 22 years of age. No score.

double-decanted and stoppered for 2 hours before popping the cork again. Minty with a nice whiff of smoke, there's some nice and ripe fruit along with coconut butter. Very smooth on the palate but still got the concentration, very much in its prime.

Well made but TOO MUCH HEAT! Damn napa wines. Felt like I was slapped in the face by alcohol. Welcome to California over exaggerated adulterated nonsense. Felt the harsh bite on the finish again and again with each sip. Pepper, lots of astringent harsh alcoholic pepper! Wait, intense fresh ground black pepper in a cab? Meh.This isn't syrah. That and the heat from excessive alcohol (from a well aged cab!) massively detracted from the experience, as usual. Idiots. This has …

drank about 1 hour and 45 minutes after decanting. This was soooo beautiful and lovely, showing such elegance! Lovely cool fruit, a little peppery, smoky, and minty. Drinking very, very well at the moment.

Graphite tinged Eisele wine that makes you wonder where this is from. New world for sure, but the graphite is confusing. Then the big red fruit and juju starts poking out, possibly hinting to something from old vines California. I dont think this is going to get better...Drink

Three hour decant, the nose and palate are very left bank bordeaux, with more nuance and complexity than your standard big Cali cab. The finish here is very, very long and very enjoyable which has developed over the twenty years this has spent aging. This still comes across as young in spite of its age, with plenty of fruit in the lead and equal dollops of acidity and and tannins in play.

Extremely nice wine. The nose is complex but balanced. A nice bouquet that I could spend all night with my nose in the glass. The palette is the same scenario. Well balanced with a little bit of tannins at the end. I can see this still getting better in the next couple years.

Showed very well in a recent tasting. Still huge with a lot of life left. Seemed to get bigger as the night progressed. Big fruit, long in the mouth. Tannins a little strong on the back end, but I believe the fruit will hold up fine. 97

Wonderful California Cab. Tasted alongside 2008 Abreu. This wine was not as big. Better finish and wonderful nose. It is well balanced, medium body. Great wine.

Beautiful wine! Nice youthful color. Tobacco nose that reminded me of a rustic Pauillac. Red fruits and good acidity were the highlights of the mouth, with soft but still present tannins that carried this wine to a great medium + finish.

Second Sunday Group: 1995 Beaune (Eagle Brook CC) : Dark youthful color, would never have guessed this is nearing 20 years old. Cassis, chocolate, currant and tobacco. Tannins are soft but still present. Full-bodied and impeccably balanced. Long finish. Gorgeous. (G&L)

Tried this wine with other similarly priced 2002s and it was a standout as well as the vintage compared to 2003 and 2004. tabbacco notes on the nose that promises that you are about to taste a wonderful wine-ripe berries complex with a long finish-impeccable balance

Friday Wine Group - GA (Blind Lunch) : Dark ruby in the glass, very little sediment. Nose of fresh red fruit - cherries. Ever so slight bricking, but appeared fresh. Deep red fruit on the palate, but with a strong, but integrated, tannic backbone. Tasted fresh, and likely has years to go. I called a CA mountain cab.

Surprised how youthful this was out of the bottle. Definitely needed 30-45 minutes to open up. Very nice, notes of maturity coming through... fruit is still quite vibrant, structure is very much in tact. I dont see this getting better than this, seems to be in its prime for sure.

This bottle drank extremely well. All the best effects of time, light caramel over rich fruit of peach and grapefruit, oak mellowed to a balanced note as opposed to 5 years ago when it was over powering. Perfect with the veal pasta I made. Or would have been fantastic with a Stilton and carr's graham crackers..

Great floral aromas with the Viognier really coming through well. Lemon on nose and palate, along with some lemon oil richness. Almost showing hints of tropical fruit on finish. Rich but not awkward, nicely balanced.

Dinner with family at Union (Seattle, WA, USA) : Lemongrass, ripe melon, and hint of ash on the nose. Huge, explosive palate, grassy and ripe with more melon. The acid is barely visible yet clearly present on this vibrant, lovely wine. With aeration this is getting more exotic and lavish, a lovely effort. My taste in Sauvignon Blanc runs more to the old world, but this is an alluring and outstanding expression of the wine.

Not off, like the last bottle, but just not to my taste. A 14.1% alcohol, extracted, low-acid, leesy, creamy... Sauvignon Blanc. Go figure.

Disappointing. A promising nose of minerals and tropical fruit, but the wine was bitter on the palate and had a harsh, astringent finish. Could well have been an off bottle -- another bottle from about 6 months ago was much better.
