Qupe Syrah Santa Barbara County

Old world Syrah, but a poor QPR. Tannins are resolved, but the wine retains a strong grip on its earthiness. Dark to the rim, but without the jammy and dark fruit one would expect from such an appearance. Not particularly vicous. Red fruits (raspberry and strawberry) revealed themselves on day 2, and with some warmth. Probably best above 65 degrees.

Big, fairly typical, Syrah. Lots of dark fruit and pepper, but not especially complex.

Nice simple well made wine. Some raspberry, nice tannins and mouth feel.

Six months ok I thought this was just ok. After a little more aging, it's really shown through. Jammy, with tart raspberries. Yum.

Purple/black color. Aromatically challenged although a bit funk-i-fied. A briary edge to the lean, focused black plum that is light-bodied. Very mineral driven finish. I'd of liked a bit more fruit.

Decent , albeit relatively simple, Syrah to accompany some comfort food on a cold winter evening. Could benefit from a year or two in the cellar.
