Acker Chicago BYO Dinner (S.K.Y. - Chicago IL) : Small glass from magnum. Mature and fresh apples with candied citrus rind and seemingly a hint of berry compote, this was so impressive and a great palate refresher.

Green apple, pear, and a hint of white peach lead, backed by citrus oil and a light floral lift. There’s a gentle autolytic note—fresh brioche, a touch of almond—though it stays more on the clean, fruit-forward side than deeply yeasty. Medium-bodied with a creamy but not especially persistent bead, balanced by moderate acidity that keeps it refreshing without much edge.

The cork came out with a whimper rather than a pop, but fortunately the wine still had enough bubbles to give it life. An extremely fine mousse. Demonstrating moderate oxidation in color and aromas/flavors, including dried mushroom, almond or hazelnut shell but just a hint of green apple still. Enjoyable but to me it seems like it’s getting towards the end of its life.

Wow wow wow. One of the best Champagnes I've ever had and I've drunk quite a few. Golden yellow color, full maturity, still with mousse and ever so tiny bubbles dotting the body of the wine. On the nose honeysuckle, honeycomb, brioche, roasted almonds, nougat, golden apples. Absolutely loved this wine tonight. Bright, vibrant, effervescent. Next to the 2002 (another DP vintage I absolutely love) it was hard to tell which was more youthful. Just great stuff. Has several years left if well-preserved, but no reason to save--it's great now.

Napa Trip; 3/7/2026-3/14/2026 (Napa, CA) : Pale golden color. A welcome glass at Auro in Calistoga. Have not had this since drinking it at the top of the Eiffel tower 18 months ago. This was a crisp version, orchard fruits, leaner, chalk, some citrus on the back end. Good. 90+pts.

Third bottle of this totally amazing Dom Perignon. Scent: Fudge, stored honey, wet wood, wet cork, pastry, medium vanilla bean, butter, bisquit. In a slim glass comes more notes of waffle, nougat, apricotes with a finish of light pears. After 1 hour on almost empty glass comes roasted nutt. (88+ points) Nicely smoky, creamy, toasty, leesy. Perfumed & flowery. Gingered lemon, pear & nectarine aromas & flavor with unsweetened whipped cream. Spicy & rich on the palate, if overly sweet. Mousse is on the lighter side, with below average persistence. 1/2 surprisingly not bad-ish, if served ice cold.

A crowd pleaser for sure. Put on ice for about 20 mins. Everyone will enjoy this classic. Cheers

A pretty good everyday champagne. Not the greatest but nice for a celebration.

Nose: maltose, chestnut, sugar cane, chinese sausage, nuts Notes: 12.5% ABV, 6g dosage and around 50/50 between Chardonnay and Pinot Noir. Very classic Dom Perignon nose with maltose, chestnut and sugar cane. There's a good balance of everything here and I've always enjoyed everything I see here. Drinking at the right spot now ans showing some secondary notes, time to drink up. Drink: now+ Rating: 91

Seventh bottle in the last 14 years. Seemed better than in previous years. Still overpriced when comparing to similar priced big house NV Champagnes with high quality, such as Bollinger and Roederer.

Hazelnut reduction, Nutella, beautifully oxidative yet leesy and rich with a pleasing mushroom note. This is beyond belief - so perfectly balanced, rich vinous and powerful. WOW! Still has bruised apple fruit in spades. Liquid Ferrero Rocher. This is incredible.

Krug / Dom Perignon Extravaganza with Lots of Great Red Burg (S.K.Y. - Chicago IL) : Tonight's bottle was old and seemingly musty, some thought it corked, but I was thinking it possibly poorly stored at some point in its life.

Great bubbles for the money.

Tasted over a long evening from the Jancis Robinson glass. Misleadingly powerful immediately after opening, this is a subtle, even a gentle, but very nice, wine. Yellow apples, toasted coconut, pears, caramel, limes, minerals, grapefruit, and a hint of cardamom, all somewhat blurred together. Long and lovely aftertaste.

95-96; consistent notes, tasted over several years. This vintage remains very generous/giving and a warmer, almost "fat"impression that you rarely see in most Dom. This opens up to show real magical complexity. Upside? More than likely.

A champagne that does the job

We consumed 3 different vintages of DP over the holidays - 1999, 2002 and 2004. This was the best with full on tertiary flavors. 2004 was the least good but still good. It was drier and crisper but lacking in development. 2002 was smack in the middle. Fun to be able to compare.

Really great showing; very nearly as good as the 90 Salon and 90 Dom Oeno opened alongside it. Surprisingly fresh but with the nice aged DP depth and savory notes with a whiff of coffee. Very similar impression to the 90 Oeno.

2015 vintage

Opens a bit on the austere side - not much fruit and maybe a bit of chalkiness; acidity not an issue. With time in the glass maybe a bit of lemon; fairly short finish. Refreshing, but that's about it.

Decent NVchampagne. Light floral on the nose. Plaette continues with flowers and green apple and pear. Good drinker with NYE dinner

Used as the base alcohol for Pearl Royale cocktails ... with mixed results. It was fantastic the first time but seemed to lack something in the second and third batches. I'm not sure what changed but will keep experimenting with the bottles I have left.

Really nice champagne. Not too sweet, not too dry. If you're looking for a bottle that would appeal to a larger group, this would be a fine choice. Happy New Year!

Blind tasting with friends against Kirkland Champagne Brut - Kirkland won unanimously.

Basic stuff. Chalk, spice, dirt , lemon and a short harsh finish.

We should have drank this bottle before the bottle of Clandestin Les Semblables & the bottle of Les Tremblaies by Clement Perseval and not after...

Had with Sorrel, Bellini.

This is a NV that was sitting in the cellar for some time and had some significant bottle aged as evidence by the cork shrinkage. Medium lemon colour - generous fine mousse and lasting effervescence in a tulip glass. On the nose getting some brioche toast green apples. Lovely even palate with acidity fruit and medium length. Way better than a fresh bottle of Moet for sure.

Yellow with a golden hue. Slightly reductive with plums and horseradish. Dry, a bit anonymous, decently balanced - definitely more than my last try - light, a bit milky and a roasted finish. Hardly any autolysis. Slightly bitter. Lean structure. Rather boring.

Our verdict on this oscillates between 89-90 more with the surroundings and friends rather than the wine itself . It’s a solid NV and always works and spurs on a celebration. 90

1995 Bordeaux Summit (Restaurant Schützenhaus, Ludwigsburg) : Glass: Spiegelau Definition Bordeaux Clear deep golden color. Beautiful fresh, lively nose with lots of brioche and some lime notes. On the palate with a touch of sweetness and the usual lovely DomPi creaminess. Some caramel notes, but also some fresh lime. Lively mousseux. Beautiful tension, long and fruity finish.
