Leaping Lizard Zinfandel

Dark crimson color. Big fruity nose. Some oak which comes across like beef jerky on the palette. At pop-and-pour, this came across as watery with big alcohol, firm tannins and very little fruit flavor. After drinking over a few hours the wine really opened up and the fruit comes out. Tannings are still prety firm, but a cherry candy finish develops. Not a bad wine, but I think the basic Cali Ravenswood (for example) offers more bang for your buck.
