2003 vintage

I think this got 99 points from parker and that I liked it back when it was released. Now it is like overripe plums and prunes. Sharp ending. Borderline drinkable. Age did not do this any favors.

I was concerned that this bottle was long past it’s prime. That feeling was compounded when the start of the first pour had a hint of a brownish tinge. The full pour, however, had none of the visual or taste characteristics of oxidation. I would love to have more of this vintage.

2008 vintage

Unscrewed this tonight with a Lamb Shepherds Pie. Pretty amazing considering price and age. Fruit still present; preserved black and blueberries and a touch of Logan berry. Even a faint Eucalyptus note on the backend. Freshness still present but with maturity. Only wish I had a few more bottles. Drinking great and those who said the drinking window was through 2012, have no idea what they've missed.

No rating. Trying to get after past-prime wines and this one should be all done. Fully expected to pour it out. Surprisingly tasty. It has a minty tactile thing going on ... fairly strong acid, faded tannins, raisins ... I'll say, I don't dislike this wine. An interesting experience.

Chocolate, black cherry, succulent dark fruits and a hint of white pepper ... A true delight with some really sweet fruit notes - but then I turned the bottle around (what fresh hell is this???) - 16% alcohol - guess bed will come early. Yes, this is liquid chocolate black cherry and spiced-plum ... Gorgeous - and yet another tip of the hat to screwcap wines.

This is a 17o bottle that was my gamble when i bought a dozen mixed bottles from different wine store. The cork crumbled with waiter's corkscrew. Ten years later and what a difference. Who says cheap wines aren’t worth cellaring? Much more Rhone like now than Aussie jam. Still a very big wine, but the fruit has receded to reveal a nicely balanced wine with a good finish.

Under Screw cap. I don't think this is in any danger of being over-the-hill anytime soon. This is a big, blowsy, jammy Shiraz with heavy oak and heavily-extracted fruit. More over-the-top than the 2002 that I tried recently. As others have mentioned, there is quite a bit of sediment at this time. Not a style of wine I enjoy very much.

On the gentler side of shiraz. Somewhat muted, but enjoyable. Don't see it improving much.

Aging for 14 years finally has been kind to this wine. The color remains impressively black almost to the edge. The aromas are inviting, and in place of a prune and raisin, now features a grilled meat. The texture in the mouth is velvety, juicy and dense without any excessive alcoholic burn. This opened up oddly, and I did not care for it (burnt rubber mercaptans?), but with vigorous swirling and decanting it was drinkable after an hour. Significant age shown based on color and bricking. After 12 years, still dark garnet-purple, completely opaque. Pronounced aroma of blackberries, black raspberry, with smoky, toasty oak. Quite viscous and mouth-coating. It has lost the sharpness and angularity of its youth, and is now beautifully round, balanced, and supple, though still quite full-bodied. No signs of prunes or raisins yet. Brought to a gathering where a friend likes Australian wines. Dark red, nose is cassis and other dark fruit. Still alive, a bit hot, but better with time in the glass. Some secondary notes, but modest. Others loved it and it went quickly.

A surprise how great is this wine for so little. Full body, smooth and long finish. Even it has passed the peak time but I believe it will last for couple more years. The wine looks violet colored. There is moderate sediment in the bottle. It smells like blackberry and blueberry. The body is full. The wine has smooth texture. The wine finishes long. The wine has medium acidity.

They were just a bit fruit-bomby but that never bother me because they were totally delicious and immediately drinkable. In spite of the temptation to guzzle up on release, they also seemed to have the stuffing to fill out and bring on some nice secondary notes in time. Dark purple, burnt jelly roll, tobacco and wood nose;jam, chocolate, raspberry, tobacco and char especially on the finish with minimal if any acidity or tannin. A relic of overconcentration. A vinous anachronism in the making. Not for me.

This wine was glorious. No ullage. Deep ruby with slight paling. Lovely nose of plum, blackberry, spice and dust. Similar flavors in the mouth. Long delicious finish. I'm pretty sure I paid under $15 for this. A lot more buys much less these days. Loads of pleasure here. Not in any danger of falling apart anytime soon.

Bottle is clearly at/past its peak, with dried fruit on the nose and a tawny port quality to the palate. Regardless, quite a nice bottle... a very different syrah/shiraz than anything I've had before... but in no way negative. Wife even said "we need to drink them past their prime more often!". If you have one, drink it now - and enjoy it. You won't enjoy it as much in a year...

Farven er mørkerød og fyldig, duften er en bombe af mørke bær. Smagen er flot bær, blød, rund og kraftig næsten som portvin. Flasken holder 16% som er flot integreret men bør serveres på 16-18 gtrader. Stort set ingen tanniner men en anelse syre som passer fint. Det der trækker ned er manglen på nuancer, da vinen virker meget ensporet. Lang lang eftersmag. Smagt til lam med svampe og palmekål.
