Like licking an old nickel. Nose way better. Starts with a touch of lean pear, ends with salty metal sheet. Almost no fruit. Quite over the hill or flawed.

A great bottle of Alsacien Riesling. Mature and deeply fruited with mirabelle and rubber. Nice body and a rich yet dry finish. Perfect now. (94)

Very good, in the zone. Elegantly rich tropical fruits, fresh, lifting acidity, a long finish. We took our time with this, sometimes silence can be quite comfortable. A joy. highly recommended

Palate shift, ALANR. I look back at your 2013 note and think it's very representative today. I did not perceive as much RS as you did, and in fact looked it up before I bought the wine (solidly in off-dry territory at 17-21g/L). Yes, it's gained some fabulous flesh but the acidity is still very well balanced and age notes are starting to intermingle with stone fruit and minerality to yield a lovely bottle of wine. Thoroughly enjoyed this with …

OK, I admit it, I have grown tired of almost all sweet wines, outside of top Sauternes and TBA. Particularly with age, they lose "zip" and gain flesh and flab. Did I just describe most people? Don't get me wrong, they can be enjoyable, sometimes very enjoyable wines. But these days give me a dry wine pretty much any time over a sweet wine. This Weinbach straddles the line for me. There's some good intensity and depth, pretty decent acidity, …

French wines and French food (Bar Marta) : Nose: The nose is mature and balanced with crushed rocks, red apples, some diesel notes, meyer lemons, and cider tones. Taste: Medium bodied with medium+ acidity. The acidity is somewhat astringent and the feel thins out towards the end along with crushed rocks, red apples, diesel notes, meyer lemons, and some cider tones. Overall: This is on the downslope, but is still enjoyable. There is good balance and complexity with it showing …

A bit oxidized. Pale apricot-straw color, noticeably off dry. A bit lacking in structure. Not bad, but not living up to expectations.

Just about perfect maturity here, with peach fruit, subtle spice notes and just a touch of sweetness over the richness of the wine. The depth is impressive, and results in a very long finish. Quite fine right now.

Opened by Jcubed from magnum at an offline. Medium yellow color. A whiff of rubber on the nose at first. Round wine with notes of peaches and petrol. Good secondary flavors on the finish which fell a little flat for me. Moderately sweet. 89 points.

From magnum courtesy of jcubed. Light color with notes of mineral, sulphur and petrol turning to orchard fruit. The palate follows the bouquet. Nice minerality lingering o the finish.

When we bought this wine at the Domaine Weinbach Madame Faller told us it should be drunk in early years - tasting it in 2014 I have to say the wine is marvelous! Golden color with long legs - nose with dried figs and honeydew - a little bit varnished but still with acidity - full body and long finish; a very interesting wine and a monumentum to Laurence Faller who followed much to early her father Theo; She has …

This very popular rare sought after wine is only produced in certain perfect vintages from vines over 60 years of age. The wine's 20 grams of residual sugar provides the perfect juxtaposition with a grape varietal endowed with a strong acidic backbone. The bottle was stored in perfect condition and the condition of the bottle/cork was perfect. The bottle was opened and immediately poured. In the glass the wine was a beautiful liquid of gold. On the nose and in …

Light golden color, touch of petrol and yellow flowers on the nose; this is a panoply of layered flavors, starting a bit slowly with what appears as initial simple sweetness, but quickly transitions through waves of richer, meatier depth, adding layers of stony minerality, nice acidity, with a long fading finish. Has some weight and density, easy to drink this quickly.

The Usual Suspects...a new tradition; 3/22/2013-3/24/2013 (Lucerne Inn) : FROM MAGNUM Color: light golden yellow Smell: Petrol, nectarine, and apples Taste: lemon/lime and green apples. Overall: Very Good. This was honestly lacking the acidity, and balance that they other two Weinbach mags from 2000 had. Tasted once then left alone. drink now.

Light golden yellow. In the nose, hints of botrytis, forest honey, Papaya and Mango, both fresh and dried. On the palate, it's extremely juicy with fine minerality, very fine acidity, hardly noticeable fruity sweetness and a wonderfully adstringend finish with hints of lemon marmelade. Potential for real greatness. Wait.

Gorgeous, deep, lush fruit, just a touch of petrol, some expected sweetness (seems a bit more RS than some other vintages), with mouth-watering acidity to tie it together, long, mineral finish. Delicious.

Comes across slightly riper and more generous than the Mann and Trimbach though not sweet; bright apples, citrus and peachy fruit tinged with floral and vividly stony notes and conveyed with a sense of finesse and great balance. Really good.

Cooking for the Kesslers (and drinking some great wine with them, too!) (My place.) : Shows nice ripeness and a honeyed persona in a dry package. There's pleasant citrus flavors and aromas with just a hint of tropicalness to it with a bit of mineral. It's just picking up a bit of petrol. Good length and a pretty rich mouthfeel given the dry character. Low A-.

Appearance: Quite deep. 4/9. Nose. Fairly reticent. Med minus lime and nuts. No petrol. Palate. Dry. Vinous texture and flavour. Mouth filling but balanced. Blossoms later in the evening into a marvellous Riesling. Many years of life left in this.

Paired with a lobster salad for a birthday dinner. Correct mineral and riesling fruit nose, well balanced on the palate, good acidity, with minerals carrying through the medium length finish. Not the incredible wine I was expecting....doesn't have the body of youth, and doesn't yet have the development of age. Good wine, but not as good as I expected.

Good wine, very drinkable and a nice match with seafood. But lacking the explosive taste of the 2002 consumed alongside. The 2002 was super, this was merely fine.
