Last bottle from my cellar and its drinking phenomenally. Pronounced aromatic and fruit intensity. Really lovely bottle. Drink with confidence. One thing of note was the quality of cork. Every bottle I had had a saturated cork and signs of seepage. Don't know if it was from improper transit or overfilling at the winery.

Maybe the tightest of the bunch. Very savory. Lemongrass, flint, beeswax, candied lemon, ginger root and some jasmine. This cuvée is picked later but still fermented dry giving a bit of alcohol that is not anywhere noticeable in the other wines. Drink or hold. 8 g/l RS. 15% HJW, 65% Josef, and 20% Magdalena vineyard.

American Riesling isn't something I drink everyday. The producer is allegedly skilled, so it will be interesting to try. Colour light yellow. On the nose not very expressive, some Riesling aromatics, but what I will remember it for is the scent of boiled rice! Stone fruit + nectarine, slate, some lemongrass. Maybe a little tarragon? Complex nose. Medium plus acid which balances a touch of RS--so it tastes dry. Very balanced. A very German style--a true kabinett style. It becomes a little more exotic with some air and warmth.

Sadly, I think this bottle was flawed. A very soft nose, with just a hint of apple. Soft apple through the mid-body as well, with hints of tropical notes in the background (12% ABV). Acidity was almost completely gone and the color was deep gold. It wasn't corked and I don't think it was cooked as there was no seepage and the cork wasn't pushed out. But I suspect there was enough heat damage that it was simply prematurely aged. …

utterly fantastic wine. Slightly drier than their normal dry riesling. Only by .1% RS, but it tastes quite a bit drier and much, much more complex. The finish is gorgeous and it lasts for ages. Easily the best dry non-single-vineyard riesling I have had from the states.

Comes across as a very ripe style of riesling, especially by Finger Lakes standards, with some unusual tropical flavors (bananas?!) overlayed on some more typical melon fruit. Something about it didn't quite jive for me but the leftovers the next day were much more appealing -- still on the luscious side but with a nice sense of dimension. Something about the tropical fruit with a touch of peppery spice gave it a profile that seemed very reminiscent of gewurztraminer. 12%

Dinner at l'Artusi 2/23/2012 (West Village) : Pale gold, green meniscus. Big creamy, peachy nose with a persistent hit of lime zest; really dancing nose! Definitively Riesling; very lifted and airy. Palate otherwise: round and soft, fleshy; pretty low acid, but it's OK, here; melons and melony melon, plus some melony minerals; fairly simple palate. Good length of melon... A good wine, for sure, with alcohol well under control. I liked this a lot.
