Good, dependable Aussie "sticky". Light Ruby color, rather than an actual "tawney" hue. Stewed plumb, raisin, toffee, chocolate, and spice on the nose and palate. A warming 18% alcohol lingers in the throat. Great QPR. Not the house favorite, but the house Port for guests who are not Port aficionados.

What is interesting is that I haven't seen a liquor store carry R.L. Buller&Son and I did see it at a tiny store in east Denver. I bought 2 of the three they had knowing the producer makes excellent tawny for the cost. It's a great tawny. This one is full of butterscotch sweetness and nice balance. Lip licking delicious. Any sweet dish made with butter would be a nice pairing.

more grapey than I usually expect from a tawny, this was fine for the price. I would prefer a little more acid and a little more complexity, as the only nuance I get besides straightforward cooked fruit is perhaps a bit of plum dust and walnut skin. Good bottle to have around for the holidays, since not everyone we entertain is as much of a wine snob as I am.

Still haven't found a better port QPR. We've polished off at least a dozen of these since finding them several years ago. Sure, nothing ground-shattering here... but for simple pleasures of the dessert vino, this value cannot be beat. It holds up for weeks if not months in the fridge, too.

Very nice for the price. Smooth taste with surprising length in the finish.

Liquid caramel raisins, wonderful.

Interesting port, which was better the 2nd day. Nice complexity, but it is a bit overwhelmed by the sweetness and heat on the finish.

Ruby color, not very tawny. Actually tastes like a ruby Porto. Very tasty. Much better than the couple of other Aussie red ports I have had. A tad too sweet.

GOOD Good, not great. Side by Side with 2000 Dows Vintage it pails in comparison.

Quite 'hot' when first opened but 6hs later it had calmed down and was much better. Jammy palate with some peppery spice and a nutty, creamy finish. Delicious tawny! Huge QPR alert at $20cdn.

An incredible find for the price. Burnt apricot color with a smooth sweet feel and light bouquet. Not an overbearing port, but well worth the drink!

similar to last bottle, noticed a bit of burnt creme at the tail end of the finish. Will buy more if I can find it.

Pretty color. Fig, maple/cooked maple, perhaps burnt coffee, yet still quite fruity. Round and smooth, with an easy finish. Maybe even smoother the second day than it was on the first. Enjoyed this and will purchase again.

Delicate in the mouth, fig and a touch of maple (?). Still retained some cherry to me as well. Good for summer port drinking when you don't want to lay it on too thick.

loverly litle tawny and a crowd pleaser to be sure. Dates and nutes, went great with teh Stilton.

Mission fig, toasted walnut, burnt coffee flavors. Decent QPR

Hard to beat at this price point. Quite fruity and round although lacking a bit of complexity. 50+5+12+16+8=91

Very sweet. Dominant raisin/prune flavor (modern kiln-dried raisins). Burnt carmel. Not what am looking for in a tawny port.
Taster #8399 · Jan 26, 2006
Carmel, nutty brown color, with raisin and nut on the nose. A beautiful, long, lush finish. This wine was 1/2 the price of comprable quality tawney ports from the original Portugal.

A winner - and another steal for $3.99. Some molasses on the nose, ich. DEelicious, A great fine wine with Thanksgiving dinner. Need to keep an eye out for more tawny ports like this one. Buller is such a great producer.
