Domaine Leroy Gevrey-Chambertin 1er Cru Aux Combottes

Still very young. Initially tight on the nose., Bright, fresh and full of dark fruit. Great depth and mouth-feel. Wonderful finish…..wonderful wine with many years of life and development ahead….

Cork almost completely soaked. Garnet. Wow. Lovely nose. Deep set blue fruits, star anise, cinnamon, sous bois. Palate has so much intensity, but is balanced and graceful. Tannins are all but resolved, and help glide the wine to long, elegant, seamless finish. Super bottle.

Burgundy dinner – 90 Krug, Raveneau, Leroy, M. Gibourg, Truchot, H Lignier and etc. (The Grill Room at Capella Hotel Georgetown) : Bright red fruit driven nose, red cherries, raspberry jam, a hint of sous bois, fish glue, sweet spices and mushroom. Excellent concentration, sweet red fruit driven palate impression, bright acidity and lovely long finish. Still very youthful but drinking nicely.

Dinner at Nomi. Drank over four hours. Incredibly bright red fruit, spice and some mineral notes on the nose. Very focused, creamy and pure strawberry and tart cherry on the palate. Layered spice and a cedar on the palate. Minerals. Great depth and superb grip. This is still very fresh and youthful and has a long way to go. A real treat--particularly since only 536 bottles were produced.

Best on the nose today, which shows strawberry and bright cherry notes. Tart cherry on the palate, which is still a bit pinched and tight.
