Garnet in the glass, aromatic nose of dark fruits and spice, palate is dry, fruits a bit bitter at first, dark cherry, plum, dried berries, cacao, coffee note, leather, peppery spice, acidity is bright, tannins are mature, medium + body, long finish.

This has reached its peak as the balance of fruit spice acid and tannins is great Dark cherry and pepper dominated the mid to end Drink in the next year.

Medium to dark purple with a bit of garnet. Fresh berries and cedar and spice. Palate is raspberry cocoa and tobacco. High to moderate acid and fine tannins.

Nice wine, inky purple and smooth. Nose has baked cookies and marzipan, oak, raisin, chocolate. Mouth and teeth coating. Palate has rich plums, tart blackberries, morello cherries. Finish is less smooth, more of a table wine character. Good enough drop and years to go.

It was OK....not great. Did not age as well as I had hoped.

Another great Spanish value. Really opened up after about 30 minutes. Still quite good on day 2.

Red blend, old world style, but juicy spicy, herbal. Really like this. Medium, soft tannins Fun wine easy to drink. Nice ripe fruit with good acid and soft tannins.

Fairly typical profile of Grenache. Lighter color and body but with some pepper. Second bottle of mine did not have sediment.

Fairly typical flavors of a Grenache. Fairly light bodied, red fruit and medium to high alcohol. This bottle had a lot of sediment in it which I didn't mind.

Poor man's Priorat, this delivers that wild feral spicy concoction of ripe figs and plums with surprising finesse amidst its power and alcohol. Definitely potential to broaden out and knit some potential complexity together. Delicious with ham.

Full bodied, spicy & herbal notes from the Syrah. Nicely balanced, great long finish. Excellent value.

Clear floral nose. Tart pie cherry grips at first, then yields to vanilla, lots of smooth vanilla. Peppery spice carries a lingering finish. Acidity and tannins promise a wine which will age gracefully over the next 3-4 years.

This is a great value wine from the Monsant DO in Spain. My understanding is that the soils are similar to the area's Priorat neighbor. Unlike the balanced wines that I have had from Priorat this is a concentrated blend (Syrah, Granacha, and Carignan (Mazuelo)) that packs a punch. Spicy and abrasive with loads of black fruits. I feel that it has spent some time on oak as well. We drank this solo with a bit of a chill on …

Seems to have finally mellowed and is ready to drink. Nice balance and a tasty starter, but not a stand out.

Dark and cloudy crimson. Strawberry, mild chili peppers, and toast on the nose. Light to medium bodied, raspberries, tart cherries, soft integrated tannins, good acid, sage, smoke, and a tangy, medium length finish. Well made and a good value.

50% Garnacha,40% Mazuelo,10% Syrah.14% by vol. Montsant. Well done wine by Jorge Ordonez. Nice fruit, medium-bodied and pleasant, some brighter colour, fine fragrance. A very good wine, but without a special requirement. There seems to be no oak in it, a winy pleasure.

Ruby color, medium/dark red. On day 2, beautiful dusty/earthy nose, somewhat reminiscent of Rutherford dust(?). Dark berries, plum and currants, hint of spice, oak, and then more earth on the palate. very nice bottle for the price. medium body, moderate alcohol at 14%. easy drinking. 88 to 89 points.

Impressive mix of old and new world flavors, juicy dark cherry, plums, currants, toasted burnt oak, spicy cinnamon/cloves, reasonably complex for the $$$. Plenty of life left based on this bottle, wish I had bought a case.

87-88 big fruit but hot and unpolished. nose of candied cherry and blackberry, sweet tarts, something floral, meaty, and a bit a charred wood. palate is medium-full with sharp acidity and crude tannins. this and some alcaholic heat detract from the otherwise dense and ripe dark fruit. the syrah possibly, adds a whiff of smoked meats and brine and i do like the fresh lavender and loamy mineral note on the tail end. un-integrated structure, however, makes this a bit …

PnP. Notes are consistent with Robert Parker, but I'm not sure I'd go to 92. Lavender, black raspberry with dusty loamy earthy notes. Enjoyable and good QPR.
