Decanted 2 bottles approximately 90 minutes before serving. On opening, one cork crumbled and had to be removed with an ah so, and both corks contained a crusty layer of sediment at their bottoms, which also stuck to the sides of the bottle necks and needed to be removed prior to pouring the wine into the decanter. Before decanting, the wine had a bit too much tartness and no nose to speak of. After 90 minutes in decanter, the tartness …

Very rich almost opulent nose that does not quite translate to the palate. Loads of Blackberries, dark plums, mocha, and baking spices. On the palate intense fruit falters quickly and appears more medium bodied than full bodied. Tannins well integrated and barely noticeable. SHould have a few more years before teriary notes start to develop and take over.

The nose features aromas of early tertiary black cherry and black plum, baking spice, tobacco leaf, menthol, balsam, and cocoa powder. Full bodied, it has very shiny and juicy acid with largely resolved, sturdy, and long tannins. There's substantial weight to this but it flows easily. The alcohol is a bit strong. Flavors include black cherry, blackberry, clove, spearmint, and black pepper. With extended air, it adds purple florals and course tobacco notes. It has a sense of tertiary development …

Coravined a single glass, day 1. Disappointing, and glass-decanted. Coravined a 2nd glass a couple days latter - better. More integrated, layered, and with a noticeably better finish. Had the remaining glasses with dinner and we were impressed, myself more so given its muted shyness at first. I’d give this lots of time and air, and you’ll be rewarded.

Like this, but was expecting more. Super dark and even brooding fruit, seared meats, over-roasted cashew, cocoa, tobacco, and smoke. I might mistake this for Syrah in a blind test. Still enjoyable, but Mt. Brave has usually punched above its weight. I might suggest giving this another 3-5 if you have the patience. I’ll kick my remaining bottles out that long.

완성도 높음 주질이 좋은포도 파우더리향 가득하고 복합미 뛰어나다 하지만 3시간을 못버티고 꺾이는 모습 가성비 썩 좋은지는 모르겠다

Pnp'd last night and enjoyed with family and baby back ribs while watching the Eagles/Cardinals game. (Bad weekend to be a Cardinals team/fan?) As this warmed to temp and opened beautifully over 2-3 hours, it was quite smooth, with beautiful dark red fruit, a modicum of spice and perfectly balanced acidity with mild grip to the tannins. A nice 30 second mouthwatering finish, too. Last glass in bottle under cork overnight and, poured this evening. It's even softer/smoother. Same great …

One hr decant. There’s rough-hewn oak, vanilla and flavored tobacco on the nose. Wine is tight and tannic, not as thick or rich as a Foley but shows both pedigree and potential. Unfortunately I keep drinking these rather than aging them. Let’s see if I update my notes after a few more hrs of air. Success ! 3 hrs after decanting the nose hasn’t opened up much more; I think this has just softened more, which frankly makes it seem …

Two hour decant. Bright, yet very very deep ruby color. Date, plum, malt, and subtle leather on the nose. Smooth, dry palate, with chewy, lingering acidity. Firm tannins on the longish finish. Very nice drinker.

보라색, 미디엄 바디, 자두향 연유향, 검은과실향...산도 살짝..부드럽게 잘 넘어는데, 16빈이라 그런지 금방 꺽인듯 한 느낌.3시간후 산도 확 올라감.

Pop and poor with friends before heading out to dinner. Sweet fruit and wood on a floral nose. With minimal air this comes across as a very smooth, balanced wine with just the slightest Tanic bite. Drinking extraordinarily well now,I’m not sure this has the stuffing to last much beyond 2024, but is a great Merlot that punched beyond the $56 we paid.

Two hour decant. Very deep dark magenta color. Cinnamon, talc, cherry, rhubarb pie, freesia, bitter chocolate, and sea salt on the dusty nose. Smooth, dry palate, with fine, chalky acidity. Firm, full, soft tannins on the long finish.

blueberries, mocha, black currant, chocolate, toasted oak spice, mint, crushed rock and loam. Rich and dark, nice intensity to it and smoothed texture on the mid-palate. Love how this Merlot year after year is just plush and drinks well. Blossoms nicely in the decanter, but often I finish the wine before I really see the potential.

Uncorked for an hour, not decanted. Sweet nose includes cigar and burnt asphalt. Sweet flavor profile across the front palate, with a fatty component that lets the flavor linger for 25+ seconds. Will retry in 6-9 months to seee if this adds weight. So approachable now that I’m unsure of its longevity

Two hour decant. Very deep magenta color. Stale graham cracker, burnished steel, black cherry, powdered sugar and tart strawberry on the nose. Silky, full bodied palate, with soft, lingering acidity. Firm, yet plush tannins on the longish finish. Lots of potential, but just a hint unbalanced. One more year should do wonders.

This bright and inward Merlot needs another two years to hit its stride, since it seems too brambly and nervy to be that impressive right now. Purple in color; full in body; nose of fresh embers, pencil lead, and rosemary. Tastes of boysenberry, crushed graphite, leather, and eucalyptus, with a prickly and lifted finish. This is lighter and more backward than the 2016 La Jota Merlot, tasted at the same time, though each is made by the same hand (e.g., …

Three hour decant. Deep dark magenta color. Black cherry, beets, mint and seawater on the somewhat earthy nose. Smooth, dry, velvety, mouth filling, tart fruited palate, with nice acidity. Firm, full tannins on the medium long (almost long) finish. This is very Bordeaux-like. It was a rare case for me, where the palate and finish outshine the nose.

What a killer, earthy and penetrating nose: sour cherry, strawberry, mesquite charcoal, bitter cocoa, sawdust and emulsified dandelion. It's full bodied in a way that fills the palate, but the acid is juicy and alive and prevents the wine from settling and cloying. The tannins are fine and focused. The fruit is beautifully layered, with muddled cherry, mountain strawberry and boysenberry that go for ages, and are followed by ground espresso and cocoa beans and graphite. The tail end of …

Some killer California wines : Rich purple color. Gorgeous aromatics of crunchy red and black currants and cherries, along with warm mulling spices and complex elements of cedar, graphite, minerals and loamy soil. Full-bodied with suave but structured tannins and fresh acidity — lovely balance. Black cherries, plums, currants, lovely depth of fruit but it’s crunchy and fresh, too. Complex flavors of earth, tobacco, sage, graphite and clove, some savory mushroom notes underneath. Gorgeous depth and complexity, I would love …

This rich and explosive Merlot is drinking well in the early going, though it will likely show a bit more polish in a year or so. The fruit is intense and impressive, even if it (understandably) comes with a mouthful of brambly mountain tannins. Cherry red in color, full in body, nose of boysenberry, leather, and baking spices. Tastes of mountain blueberry, graphite, tar, and toasty oak, with a finish that has a touch of sweetness that is overwhelmed by …
