White Rose Estate Pinot Noir The Convivial Feast

Tasted after 1 hour of air. Tangy strawberry fruit. Big hit of black tea. Some mushroom forest floor notes. Violets. This is starting to open up. Even after 8 years still needs time open. A good wine but not a great QPR. They charge far too much here.

This is interesting as it provides me a way to compare prior wine-making (2018 and before) to the current era. You could say Jesus and post-Jesus. We were officially "Explorers" back when we bought this bottle at the winery in 2021, and I think this was our first exposure to the Convivial line. Clearly, we liked it as we purchased a bottle. Highly fragrant! Dried flowers, red fruit leather, dry twigs, dried orange rind on the nose. Big flavor, juicy acidity, supple tannins. Truly a downer of balance.

In the glass aromas showcase notes of wild raspberry, cherry, cranberry and pomegranate that come evenly with sea spray, mineral, spice, bramble, rose bouquet and hints of lilac and earth. Racy on the palate with high toned acidity and plenty of minerality alongside the balanced tannin structure and fruit density. Flavors display a core of red fruits, raspberry, cherry, pomegranate and cranberry sauce with floral pastilles and spice with touches of bramble, earth and rooibos tea. The finish is balanced …

NO formal note, a fruit driven pinot with a strong lacing of acidity running through it, on the tart side.
