Had side by side with a '22 Falkenstein Gisela - comparatively, less complexity and depth than the Gisela, but quite well rounded with hints of petrol starting to emerge. This is a great textbook Kabinett but perhaps not sure if there is such a high bar/distinguishment from his non Auction bottlings.

I think this is the most perfect Kabinett I've ever had. This rings especially true when drunk next to the 2014. It's full of ripe orchard fruit, sour lemon, and unmistakeable Saar mineralogy. No petrol seems to have emerged yet. It drinks well now, but this will be a truly mind-blowing wine in two or three decades.

This bottle ended up with a protruding cork, possibly from shipping during winter. Since this was part of about 3 cases of 2015 VDP auction wines, I wanted to scout this to check for damage. Often hard to tell with sweet Riesling but this seems fine. Very fresh and lively, classic Lauer from a ripe but energetic vintage. Right-in-your-face fruit flavours of peach, lychee, lime, stone fruits. Ultra high acidity with rather intense fruit flavours. Not great at the moment, probably good for cellaring?

Super! A pungent melange of lime, lime peel, tart melon, grapefruit, straw, mineral, limestone, cistern. It is fluid and airy, powerful and weightless, and about as good as Saar Kabinett can be!

Less sulfur than other recent Lauers. Zippy green fruit, sweet green herbs, light in body, plenty of acid, goes down easy. This is quite similar to the non-auction bottling, with everything just turned up a little. Not sure it's worth the premium in this vintage.

Potetkjeller og rå kålrabi rett fra flaska. Etterhvert litt urter (kjørvel? mild mynte). Slankere og mye mer syredrevet enn Prinz' Jungfer. Men alt er i balanse her også - syren er ikke kantete. Mer punch i munnen, men kortere ettersmak. Herlig vin.
