Cascina Luisin Barbera d'Alba Barrique Asili

Rubyred, deep core. Evolved and slightly volatile, but interesting nose of oil paint, potpourri of dried flowers and medicine cabinet. Distant hints of macerated black cherries, but those are fading fast. Balance is still pretty decent, juicy and sappy, yet marked by tertiairy aromatics. Clearly past its best, but still palatable and educational.

Occasional tasting with PZ and JvT: Nebbiolo plus some extra's. (@ PZ) : Strange wine and I don't know if I like it. Deep bouquet with fruit (cherries) and something I cannot describe but what I experience as something unpleasant. Both come back in the taste. That strange taste, but also the dark cherries. There is a lot of bitterness and the wine is compact. I can imagine some people like this, but this (bottle?) is too special for me, …
