Decanted 2 hours - cedar, spice and fruit nose, lovely classy palate - fruit cinnamon start, lots of complex flavours in middle with long lingering end. I see the Community score is 90.8 but a 96 wouldn't seem too high for this wine.

The 2011s have really started to come around over the past few years and while a different preparation could account for the different performance, the 2011 GPL seems to have come together wonderfully since I last tasted it 6 years ago. Today there’s a gloriously intense, dense, cool blackberry nose, complemented by pencil shavings and an appealing sea breeze minerality. Serious and cool in the mouth, long on the palate. Just great now and could be confused for a 2010 …

No better or worse than the last one we drank a few years ago; a little brown on the edges now and the tannins have mellowed, but will probably soften further over the next 3-5 years. Very drinkable

Not quite ready to drink. Dark fruits, earth, a bit of graphite and medium bodied. Took nearly 3 hours before it started opening up. There is a nice elegance to it but the flavours are all muted. This is still in the sleeping phase and I would suggest to open it after 2031 for it to reveal its full potential.

Still quite primary, lots of dark red and black berries, spices, some stone mineral on the nose, slightly bitter tannins are integrated, elegant mouthfeel with medium acidity, medium plus finish

Raspberry, blackberry and black currant in the nose, with a hint of all spice, this has a purple hue to the color mixed with dark ruby reds that is quite pleasing to the eye. Medium body with good balance and good acidity. Seems to be at a great time to drink but not tasting old yet at all and seems like it could sit in good cellar conditions for many more years and still be great.

Fabulous. Let breath in the decanter for 3 hours before pouring. Nose of hot grilled hamburger, on the palate is iron, pencil shaving, cedar. Great intensity. So Pauillac. Tannin is integrated, medium acidy when drinking without food, layers of flavor with food. So enjoyable now, I just don't know where this could possibly go with a window 35 years into the future. Definite enjoy now if you want, or hold, if you can.

Restaurant purchase in Savannah; PNP after they couldn't find the first 3 bottles I asked for! Despite the vintage this was a great bottle! Served at 60 degrees and it opened up right away. Classic Left Bank notes that we love. Surprisingly rich and structured. Don't have any at home but would buy again. Now-2031.

Even better than the last bottle. At a great stage of maturity balancing primary fruit and soft tannins with beginnings of secondaries. Long, fairly rich, very approachable. No rush but in a great place. S

By the glass at Guinea Grill. This was a very welcome glass after some not so great wine experiences. This still has quite a bit of fruit wrapped in some really lovely earth, tobacco, graphite, and leather. Finely grained tannins that you can’t miss but provide some really lovely structure to the wine. This wine is a steal at its current price and this vintage has a long life ahead of it but is certainly approachable now.

(Restaurant purchase, decanted 1 hour). Mature with tannins fully integrated and perhaps very beginning of secondaries. Balanced and wells structured with good length but limited complexity.

Not bad for 2011! I have many better vintages of GPL waiting to age but wanted to check in on this one. It has many of the expected notes (lead, pencil, tobacco, plums, cherries) but all in a smooth silky and slightly muted package. Only slow ox’d one hour. Looking forward to later vintages!

Brought to cool room temperature for a day, then decanted two hours prior to drinking. Dark, no bricking, heavy body. Aroma of cut brick, pencil lead and oak. On the palate, the oak is prominent on day-1, even after several hours in the decanter, underlying is iron and rock. On day two, the oak was still present in the glass, at first, then after an hour or so the minerality became more prominent, with some tobacco flavor as well; it …

Drank this at Burlamacco Ristorante last night with my wine mates. Theme of the dinner: A nice bottle of wine to celebrate Christmas. Classic Pauillac: Power, well-encapsulated within its elegance and finesse. Notes of plums, berries, coffee, tobacco and wet earth. A little young to be drank; this wine shows lots of character and potential.

Had with dinner in Bordeaux at L’Avenue Carnot (great meal). $110€ on the wine list. I could tell this was excellent but couldn’t fully appreciate it since I have a bit of a head cold (great timing for that as it’s my first visit here in 37 years). Fully mature for sure and in a good place. Color shows no age. Probably at least 3-4 years of peak drinking ahead. Rated at least 92.

This has come a long way since 2015 when we tried this first ( Papies 88) and now much like a lot from this often misunderstood vintage . This has evolved, softened and gained dimension and depth on the palate. The nose is classic, well expressive, soft secondary, leather soft spice. Classic and now getting into its proper drinking window and with an easy 5-10yrs of happy life ahead. Very solid 92-93

A blend of 78% CS and 22% Merlot, wine is aged for 18 months in oak, 70% new. Deep ruby colour. Medium intensity aroma of barnyard which dissipates with time and taken over by notes of cassis, spices, licorice, dry herbs, cherries, undergrowth, hints of cigar box. Medium body, starts with velvety and refined texture, fresh and dried fruit flavours, some funky hints, powdery well structured tannins, long finish with touch of chalk and smoke.
