This is really in a fine place at the moment. Red and black fruits, iron, a prominent mineral note. Lots going on here and all of it good. I don’t know that it gets better from here, so open and enjoy. Another Mike Smith winner.

Interesting counterpoint to a 2014 Quivet Kenefick Ranch cab opened alongside it. This was less fruit forward and more of a balancing act between red and black fruits and savory mineral, iron, and beef blood notes. On this night, I preferred the Kenefick, but the group was split between the two. This one probably has more years of prime drinking ahead of it than the Kenefick does. Enjoy over the next five or six years with confidence (I would drink …

I last tried this wine in 2018 and I was very disappointed. Time laying down has been good for this wine! (which gives me hope for all of the 2018's NV Cabs I have that are just not impressing me at this point) All black fruits, nice mouthfeel, medium finish.

Ok...might have to amend my criticism of Quivet Cabs. decanted 90 minutes. Poured half glasses. Classic Cab nose. Dark color. First sip...no sweetness. Me likey. Black fruits dominate here as Cab should be. Medium/Medium heavy mouthfeel. Nice extraction without being heavy handed. Nice flavor layers. Great balance with medium acidity. Dont think this is a long ager. Long lingering finish. Still lots of fruit with zero bricking. Very nice. Not sure why the 14 Kenefick was sweet and this not. …

Last Minute grab to have with dinner out, was a PnP, drank over 2 hours. This wine much more 'put together' than the last time sampled a few years ago. Mostly Black Fruit with some red & blue, nice mid and a little short on the finish, but definitely gained some weight since last time. A more refined less fruit forward than some others, especially the Quivet Napa, and really enjoyed. These bottles are pretty much good to go with …

Dark red plum color. Aromas of dark berries. ON the tongue I get stewed blackberry or blueberry. CS leather sensation mid-palate. Cocoa under the rear palate. A mouthfilling wine with still sturdy tannin, but it is quite approachable.

Enjoyable enough. For some reason, not as good as past bottles.

Dark fruit, more black fruits than anything. Very dense and polished, smooth palate. Quite seamless. Large scaled but balanced. Has just a hint of herbal cab character giving this depth on the palate.

First ever Patrick/Kellypalooza........wanted to like this but it took forever to open up and show us some love. At least an hour or two needed. Dark fruited, muted nose. Pleasant acidity. A decent wine just not anything special.......

Opened up after about 2 hours in the decanter. This bottle had really good depth of dark fruit. Mocha, charcoal and earthy notes. Similar nose. Fun wine.

PnP. probably need at least 2 hour decant. This disappointed compared to the Kennefick cab.

PnP. strong right out of the bottle. Big nose and big wine on your palate. Dark fruited with good backbone of acid and fine tannins. A tad disjointed but gave it no decanting to come together. Flavorful and fun.

My third of four bottles. I cannot say that I have been impressed with how this vintage has progressed. Early one, this was a heavily alcohol laced fruit bomb, now the alcohol is gone , but so is the sweet fruit. There is plenty of Rutherford minerality, but the red fruit is thin, particularly in the mid palate.

1 hour decant, drank over the next 2 hours. Alcohol and sweet red fruit on the nose. Darker fruit, more sugar on the palate...fairly tight tannins, medium-long finish. Pretty good, but didn’t enjoy as much as the 14 Myriad three twins from the other night.

Blown away by how delicious this was. Soft multi-layered fruit.

Disappointed with this. Fruit was muted and subdued. Good mouthfeel/viscosity. But just meh in terms of flavors. Not a typical Mike Smith showing. Perhaps an off bottle? Hope so...

Good concentration and smooth dark fruit. Young with no real complexity yet but pleasurable. Good underlying structure adds to the finish. Held up well over 2 days.

Medium nose with cherry and dark fruit notes. Can taste the alcohol(>15%?) but never hot. Tannins still strong although not overpowering. Enjoyable as young wines go. Will likely improve with time but curiosity got the better of me. Mike Smith characteristically great concentration.

My second of four bottles. Drank the first about a year ago, and found it rather closed and tannic. This is drinking very well at present. It took about an hour for the heavy alcohol mouthfeel to dissipate, and allow the deep red fruit to show. Savory with chewy tannins, nice mid palate, and a hint of cedar on the finish

A bit subdued tonight. Hoping for more. Decanted 1 hour. Drank too cold, I believe. Let open and drink around 65f. Dark cherry , not over powering at all. Vanilla and dark chocolate. Good, not great. Drink soon if holding.

Coravin'ed a glass to try, along with a 2014 Quivet Kenefick cab. This was more open and accessible. More red in profile. But still plenty of tannin. The Kenefick had more structure and, frankly, a profile built to last longer. So I popped the cork on this guy and enjoyed with dinner. It sort of put on more weight after popping - which was fine with some good cheese and red meat. But seemed to tell me that it should …

Couldn't resist and popped another one of these. Got about an hour of air before we dove in. Similar to prior experiences. Great core of dark red fruit. Opens right up. Great pairing with simple beef tenderloin. Disappeared very quickly. The most "easy drinking" of the Quivet cabs for me, but still enough gusto to go great with red meat.
