Domaine Fleurot-Larose Chassagne-Montrachet 1er Cru Clos de la Rocquemaure

Enjoyed this tremendously. A good dose of oak on the nose, but it blew off quickly and resolved on palate. Buttery, lemon curd with notes of liquorice, anise, a tad of graphite while all retaining a concentrated and energetic focus. Punched well above. Very popular with the group. In a great spot for drinking now and has (along with some other wines) showed me that this supposedly weaker vintage can produce great stuff.

Moderate lemon in the glass. The nose shows the crossroads between youth and development - cantaloupe, fresh peach, baked apple, green melon, baked bread, dried apricot. A powerhouse on the palate that is marked with a generous amount of fruit and nice, sleek texture. Long, buttery finish with just a lick of minerality. One can like this easily.
