Campo alle Comete Cabernet Sauvignon

Don't think of this as a thin and mediocre Cabernet, instead think of it as a full bodied and exceptional Chianti. Black cherry, cedar, clove, dried herbs. Medium body, excellent lift, medium tannins. Slightly bitter and hot on the finish, this should pair well with pizza and meaty pastas. 86 as a cab but 90 as Chianti. Excellent value at $14.

Medium deep garnet color. Black plum and black cherry nose with a pleasant hint of cedar. Bright red berry fruit and bright acidity. Light tannins.

A bouquet of blackcurrant, and black cherry character on the nose. A bit of cassis, and then herbs and tobacco. And then on the palate its zesty acidity with some edgy tannins but with a fruit entry into the palate. Has a goodly amount of back bone and structure to it. Average in quality, average in value at $34.
