Quite flinty on the nose with stone fruits, floral notes, medium acidity & minerals in a full body with touches of citrus. This is a very nice wine that has held up quite well, but not worth current secondary market prices it commands. Very fun to try though.

Totally decent but not worth the price and underwhelming when you know where these grapes are from. Wouldn’t keep for much longer.

Rene Engel Dinner (Benoit Bistro, Manhattan) : Rather strange aromatics - almost durian like. Fruit and acid profile seemingly dominated slightly by the former. A delicious an singular wine although certainly not the apax of elegane / white burgundy.

Definitely shows the classic flavors produced from this unique vineyard with tangy citrus fruits and a lovely minty note. Not overly complex and a bit buttery but still with good acidity. Not up to par with the wines made prior to the mid-'90's replanting so I'd like to try a more recent vintage to see if the wines are now starting to improve with sufficient vine age.

PNP served into Zalto Burgundy glass (“Root” day): Medium golden to the eyes. Minerality driven, high acidity too. Yellow fruits and some florals. Amazingly ready already. Consistent notes. 93-94 points.

Unique candied aromatics. Palate starts disjointed but builds tension over 2 hours. Fun.

Creamy, deep yellow-red fruit tone with serious mineral backbone. Maturing slowly. Great body and acidity, close to Grand Cru weight (a few called Grand Cru/Premier Cru called in blind). A good reflection of the Musigny terroir, but I feel it is not as energetic as it should, definitely not premox or corked, but the subtlety is not quite right. (90?/100)

On a fruit day. Uncorked two hours in advance. This bottle shows no sign of premox, which is different from another bottle from the same case tried two nights before. Very tight on both bouquet and palate. Mineral driven with very weak fruits and finish with subtle acidity. I guess it needs more air or ageing. But who would like to bet on this with the risk premox

Blind. Minerals and bubble gum, mint; very smooth, almost slick, yet good acidity. Bitter finish, long, powerful, impressive.

Very good for a 11. Salty minerals, yellow fruit and high acidity. It really grows in the glass with aeration. The minerality and acidity are superb. I know im a bit harsh on the rating today. It will be 91-92 with aging.

White Bourgogne Masterclass (Handford wines, 105 Old Brompton Road, London) : medium plus intensity aromas of peach notes, butter oak, massive nose, backed by sweet spice and floral elements with time. Juicy fleshy and peach, font of mouth grip with a touch of warmth. There is a touch of new oak here for me as well as plenty of rich butteryness. Very good. Opened up over the tasting.

Little aromas in the beginning. Took on more after a while, including stone minerals and some oak. Bone dry, like a Muscadet. Nice wine, and quite different from most white Burgundies. Too expensive, though.

[Grand Millesime's "A Decade of de Vogüé Musigny 1999-2008" Dinner at Circa Restaurant, Melbourne] Very pale straw color. Grapefruit white peach bouquet with hints of dried white flowers, mineral, limestone, pear, nectarine, lime, white pepper, nutmeg & smoke. Medium weight, moderately intense, deep, broad, clean, forward & approachable with medium fine acidity in very good balance; nothing special & certainly does not merit Musigny blanc label. Moderately long, reasonably persistent finish.

First ever Knightsbridge note, long-unearthed. A chardonnay unlike any tasted to that point. Clean, full of poise, and with great citrus character. I detected a significant funky presence as well (notes say "mushroom") unlike I'd ever tasted before in a white wine. Makes more sense in retrospect given the pedigree, and my at-the-time inexperienced palate.

Knightsbridge Annual Holiday Burgundy Tasting and Sale (Northbrook, IL) : Tasting, brief note. This is a real treat. Very pristine, linear and long. Apple and lemon come through alongside very good acidity and minerality. A beautiful textural wine more than a hedonistic wine. Very good.

Limited tasting note. Year in year out this wine always wins me over. So different than any other white burg out there. Palate is super clean & focused with lovely citrus notes. Long finish.

I Really enjoyed this. We drank it as number three of thirteen tasted at a wine dinner this afternoon. I tasted and smelled a slight pine flavor to the wine. It was pale yellow in color with apple, lemon and a little butterscotch on the palate. It had a good acidity up front and was well balanced. It paired very well with Alaskan Staple Fish, truffles and Acorn Squash Sauce as a first course.

Absolutely, terrifyingly amazing... Crisp, pure nose of rich nutmeg and pears. While high in acidity (the mouth salivates for minutes after the finish), it's still elegantly balanced.

Another Saturday at Knightsbridge - mostly blind (Northbrook, IL) : Moderately floral nose, very clean. Flavors show crisp, clean apple and pear flavors with great acidity and minerality and a reasonable amount of baby fat in the middle. Opened for a friend's birthday, this bottle showed much better than the last time I tried this in October 2010.

Served Blind and quite impressed with myself that I went right to it, though I thought 2002. Crisp, clean aromatics of lemon, pear, white flowers, and crushed rock. Nice richness to the palate. Juicy fruits. Great acidity and minerality all throughout. Great showing. Thank you Alan!

Vogue Musigny Dinner at Charlie Trotter's (Chicago, IL) : Single blind in flight of three vintages of Vogue blanc. More citrus than anything else with fairly good minerality and acidity. However this was short and simple, and didn't come across to anybody as that interesting.

This was a very interesting wine. Having read some of the notes here and knowing White Burgundies have been premoxing, I decided to open this. The acid on this was pretty prominent and it really got your mouth watering however, there was more than enough fruit to back it up. No premox here and in fact this could have and should have been held at least another 10 years. After about 4 hours in a decanter it just started developing …

New Years 2009 (Chicago, IL) : Fat for an '04, with none of the green character the vintage sometimes has. Some orange notes. Somewhat front and fruit-heavy, but enjoyable and a very good pairing.

New Year's Eve 2009 (Chicago IL) : Ripe citrus aromatics with wet rocks, and some subtle spice. Rich, fruit forward palate of juicy lime. Very nice minerality with great acidity throughout. A bit shorter than I would have liked on the finish, but still a great showing in my opinion.

Bought this thinking I was getting Musigny Blanc on the cheap. That may someday be the case, but not even close at the moment. Would wait 3 years to taste -- a lot of unresolved acidity -- and if it is anywhere near the quality of past Musigny Blancs, wait another 5 years for it to peak.

G7 (Alex) : Pale yellow in color. Noticeable oak. Tastes of sour apples with some minerality. A touch acidic for my tastes.

Dugat vs. Dugat-Py: Charmes-Chambertin and Lavaux St.-Jacques Head-to-Head (Knightsbridge - Northbrook IL) : Incredibly ripe and rich fruit aromas, followed by similar start on the palate. At this point the wine might have easily been mistaken for a very well made New World Chardonnay, but that perception changed immediately with a middle and finish showing lots of limsteone, energy and minerality that are rarely seen from the New World.

Lieu-dits-Cru Dugat vs. Dugat-Py Dinner (Knightsbridge) : Really lovely rich ripe round yellow fruit chardonnay with plenty of mineral and good complexity. Seemed closer to a Chablis than a burg from the Beaune.

Mainly mineral and floral nose with some firm lemon creeping in. Lean, firm palate. Again, more mineral than fruit. Medium body and finish. Nice, but want to see it with some more age.
