Plummy bouquet shows cassis, pencil shavings, forest floor, and a hint of veneer. Bold, dark, and juicy, the palate is driven by a ferrous, granite-like minerality and obvious bottle age. Fully resolved, dried fruit flavors, with dusty tannin on the grippy finish. 89-90

Creamy, cherry, chocolate, oak, jam, truffle nose with some serious retronasal burn. Luscious molten chocolate, EtOH, mint, cherry cordial palate. This is outrageous and confected yet somewhat structured with decent acidity too. Honestly, I'm surprised this is drinking as well as it is.

Still holding on to loads of ripe dark fruit. Time has not mellowed this Aussie beast one bit. A great example of that over the top Australian fruit bomb that you drink alone for pleasure. Color was an inky purple and showed no signs of reaching the end of its life.

Seems to be aging well. Some of that immature high octane Aussie wildness has dissipated and left some vibrant fruit and integrated flavors. Very good.

Hot and rich, super fruit, fairly mature tannins combined with very fresh fruit. Pretty good Cab character, and showing much more restrained than it did young. Enjoyable juice, drinking well now, but should easily keep well for years.

Surprisingly restrained and structured for my expectations of Sparky Marquis cab. Bright red fruit, cherry, sweet, spice. Moderate oak, tight tannins, verydry finish. Nose became much more expressive and tannins relaxed with some air. Generous sediment, recommend decant.

Black-red. The usual liqueurlike blend of black fruits and mint/eucalyptus, with the subtlest note of earth lurking beneath. Major sweetness here. This came across differently from glass to glass. At first, the sweetness seemed in balance, with an overall impression that was actually pleasantly lively. But each subsequent glass became more cloying than the last. Dark purple, nearly opaque in glass. Unfiltered. Big jammy nose of cherry, vanilla, menthol, and lead pencil. Densely extracted, cherry kirsch, pencil shavings, licorice, and vanilla. Straight forward, big aussie cab. Lacking some structure and acidity but overall a nice wine.

Wow. This wine is big.....no, it's huge. It coats the glass with an inky, purple, almost black viscosity.This is Aussie Cab. But, I don't think it's ready to drink. I drank this on top of a Henry's Drive 2001 Cab Reserve. The difference is profound but can be limited to the time frame. The tannins need some time to smooth out, but the quality is there.

I think my palate is going the opposite direction from these huge over-extracted monsters. Didn't enjoy this, although it is a well-made wine -- just too huge. Got better after 90 minutes of air in a decanter, but it's all relative...
