Kumeu Area winery visits (Kumeu, Auckland, NZ) : Pale ruby color. Nose is distinctive: sort of a graham-cracker savory leather/rusty/browned banana note. Clean, but the fruit character is verging on brettanomyces - almost spicy. Slight herbaceousness - green (slight bell pepper pyrazines) - 2012 was a cooler vintage.
