This bottle was stern and backwards and multiple hours of air didn't help. Odd given a prior more approachable bottle.

Magnum. Given 3 hours of air before pouring. Ripe red fruit aromas with a touch of high toned green herb. Medium weight and remarkably sappy for a 2007. Sweet, deep cherry fruit, amazing salinity running through it along with a long soil base. One of the very best wines I've had from this vintage, outstanding and most of all, so pleasurable.

Nose was wide opened, floral and clean. Palate took almost one hour to develop, was a bit lean on the first sip. Red fruits with vibrant acidity, fairly typical of the vintage. Both was a perfect condition, cork barely soaked. Exactly what we wanted from an aged burgundy. Perfumed nose of red fruit, thyme, sous bois. Palate very pure and ethereal with bright acid. Finish not super long, but still clean and nice. Much much better than a few 2013s we had last year, but I think the bottle condition was a big factor here.

Tasted blind. At first lots of tertiary notes and it took a good hour to open up. The exuded sour cherries, sous bois and hinted towards a classic Burgundy. Very tough tannins on the palate, too time to soften up, nice acidity and fruit. A very good showing, needs decanting if you’re opening a pristine bottle.

Reasonable nose - raspberry notes, red fruit, a gentle hint of spice. But all a bit muffled and blurry. And onto the palate - promising start for a nanosecond then it reveals a degree of acidic astringency and lamentable lack of length. So really rather bad especially when you think it now retails for an indecent sum. Avoid.

A bit muddled. I’ve never loved 07 in red Burgundy (outside of Volnay) and this was consistent with that. Warm red fruit and soft tannins. I think this has peaked (a bit early for Barthod) and given the vintage I don't have a ton of confidence this will improve with further ageing.

1/6, vg cork. Pale garnet core, wide very pale garnet rim. Lovely fragrant nose, sttawberries, florals, notes of soil and game. Medium bodied, strawberry fruit again, smoky mineral notes, elegant almost weightless but with real depth and prescence, very fine tannins, vibrant acids, lightly gamey notes coming through on the long finish. Excellent, touching outstanding this is drinking well but there's certainly no hurry.

PnP. ABV 13.5%. Light brick at the rim, showing the age. Very pretty nose, expressive and floral, so Chambolle like. The cherry flavors jumps right out of the glass. Later its lovely floral, also with earth. This is medium bodied on the elegant side with some punch. Nice tannins in a medium finish with bright cherry and also darker berries, but also a little dry. If there was more density this might be a wauw wine, but still there's class here.

Light red with faded outer third. Forthcoming floral aromas surrounding strawberry and herbs. Light weight, earthy, and just exceptionally elegant feel. Red berry fruit that is not nearly as exuberant as it was in its youth but more black fruit and licorice as well. Excellent acidity and real salinity to balance, faded tannins. I fell in love with this wine when it was young, and this bottle did nothing to change my opinion of it. Achingly good Burgundy.

Sixpenny with the GMs : Charcoal, coffee, meat and red cherries. Has texture and good savoury flavour. Pulls back a bit with time in the glass. Probably not living up to expectations but still a good glass of wine.

Opened at Emily Yeoh, Paddington. This wine was opened 8 beforehand and slow-boxed for 3 hours before serving. It has a clear cherry red colour with some pink-brown at the edges and a nose of red cherry, redcurrant, wild strawberry, limestone and hedgerow. The palate has a lovely poise between the red fruits and limestone /mineral elements and a touch of spice on the finish. Tasted blind. Very extracted, concentrated and brooding. Lots of dark fruit, earty notes. More like a St.Estephe than a Burgundy. I was guessing Dugat Py. Not surprized it was Ghislaine Barthod, she often gets the tannin mgmt wrong. I much prefer the gentle, feminine Francois Bertheaud or Remoissenet style when I am drinking Chambolle. Chambollle should be Chambolle, not St.Estephe.

Chambolle-Musigny "Northside" 1er Cru Tasting (Chicagoland IL) : Red cherry and berry aromas with subtle floral notes. Much more complete and enticing flavors with richer red fruits, spice and superbly elegant, ethereal textures. While I'd like more density, this is nearly perfectly balanced, with a finish that surprisingly keeps going longer than could be anticipated. Best this wine has ever showed.

Chambolle Northside 1er (Zoom / Chicago) : Wow, such a bright, intense and perfumed nose with pure red cherry, florals, spice and a hint of earth tones. The palate has a spectrum of red and black cherry with intense florals and mineral. So much flavor in an elegant and persistent frame. Lacy texture in the lingering finish.

More of an intellectual wine than hedonist. Mineral, on the austere side despite the presence of the fruit. Raspberry, brambly, earthy. Some rustic tannins. I liked it a lot but this definitely needs food to go along.

One hour decant. Very engaging classy nose of menthol, cranberry, cherry, hints of violet. Big intense mouthful of more dry minerally cherry and cranberry, a bit of dark earth. Long finish with tart peppery cherry. Very good balance. I’m pretty impressed. While I don’t see this as lacy or delicate as others have described, it’s not at all heavy. There’s a lot going on here, can close my eyes in pure enjoyment or exercise my mind.

Opened an hour before pouring. Light, translucent red. Highly perfumed with red fruit, a touch of stemminess, and menthol. This is the essence of delicacy and elegance while offering ethereal strawberry, pomegranate, and earth. Gently sweet, a firm twist of acidity, and the tannins have largely left the premises. This wine is a dream. There are bigger Chambolles, but this one is exquisitely fine, lacy, and detailed.

Pale red with faded edge. Cherry, cranberry, menthol, flowers, and soil. Lightweight, great acidity, fabulous balance of tart fruit and clay with a saline edge. An "anti-New World" Pinot. I looked back at my note on this wine from 2012, and it is one of those rare occasions where everything I found 6 years ago is still present now. Excellent, but I'm not sure that it has gained that much with additional age.

These wines seldom disappoint ! It has a cherry red colour with some pink-brown at the edges. The nose is lovely compote of red cherry, redcurrant, wild strawberry, limestone and hedgerow. The palate has a lovely poise between the red fruits and limestone /mineral elements and a touch of spice on the finish. The wine remains in a lovely plateau phase after years of dormancy like many 96s. Delicious.

This was quite tasty and classic Chambolle; still seemed quite young; the nose was full of bright red berry fruits and floral notes, not much development. A little spice comes in with air. Good showing. One of better young(ish) Barthods as her wines usually need years. This was rounded, good medium Pinot fruit, Chambolle in elegance if not quite Cras in depth or force. Like a lot of 2007s this is both delicious now and somewhat underwhelming overall.

I can't pretend any real experience with mature Burgundy, so I lack reference points but I thought this was gorgeous, light/medium-bodied, translucent, brick-red, moderate intensity and everso slightly medicinal flavours on the palate, light, fine-grained tannins and medium acidity. Dinner at ITSPD (Imperial Treasure Super Peking Duck, Paragon) : A nice wine - very enjoyable without quite hitting the heights. It had a beautiful nose of wild flowers, earth and summer berries along with more spicy, meaty notes, like a melange of hoi sin sauce, black pepper pork and balsam wood aromas. The palate had quite backbone to it, never feeling stern, but quite linear and very defined, with high acidity running through bright flavours of red summer fruits …

Deep rusty. A very mineralic style of Chambolle, with plenty of undergrowth, earth and dark, yet fine-tuned spiciness offering up notes of clove, cinnamon and soy. The fruit is seamlessly integrated into the whole, mostly reminiscent of cherries and plums, but nothing sticking out. Smooth, finely laced and long on the palate, still with loads of fruit and life, and some tannic bite aswell. Terrific!

Still has the strong minerally line of the vintage but is really aromatically expressive. It smells of meat, iron, violets, rose petals and black earth. It is sweet and vinous with loads of savoury nuance. Despite the wines highly perfumed nature it is a muscular wine with more to give.

Deep red cherry color with pale edge. Lovely nose of cherries, redcurrant, strawberry and spice. Palate shows fine array of fruits in a structured array with a fine mineral finish with a cumquat sorbet edge. Delicious after 20 years of aging. In fine shape !

Pale garnet core, wide pale garnet/mahogany rim. Nose shows cranberry, raspberry, touch of celery, hint of earth but fruit very much still to the fore. Light/medium bodied on the palate, red fruited, elegant, remains light and airy though has put on a touch of weight and has deceptively good depth of fruit, tannins very fine, fresh acidity, some plum fruit coming through on the sneakily persistent finish with a touch of chalky tannin at the tail end. We had a very different experience to the last few TNs posted by fellow CTs below. The wine was not flawed but maybe this is down to bottle variation. This is a recent purchase from albeit from a trusted source. The wine felt tired and past its peak, a bit shallow and lacked depth of flavour in a way and complexity. Light weight as expected, secondary characteristics, white pepper on the nose. An 87-88 for us.

It's been a while since last tasted (2011). Light translucent red in the glass. Aromas of red cherry, raspberry, some cough syrup. On the palate, this is quite lean and not particularly concentrated; red berries, stone, acid. Not very Chambolle in character -- I would have guessed CdB blind. Average length. Gained a little bit of weight and complexity with some decanter time. Comes off as a 2004/2008 hybrid to me. Not particularly interesting today, not a particularly successful 2007. …

Decanted for 3 hours. Deeply colored with a thin, slightly dusty edge. Subtle but very complex aromatics include spice, earth and a touch of roasted meat. Soft and gently sweet on entry, the flavors feature tart red cherries, sweet spice and a vibrant core of laser focused flavors. Quite elegant and poised. The tannins are well absorbed and the finish goes on and on. A really lovely example with plenty of positive potential ahead. Drink 2017 to 2025.

Really enjoyed a case of 6, drank during 2014. Was fully mature. Strawberries, violets, mushrooms and smoke on the nose. Strawberries and redcurrants on the palate. Open and mature, but still firm enough to suggest that it will go on drinking well. Overall, very true to both the appellation and the vintage, expressing more red fruit than black, and with a strong acidic spine (but not in a bad way).

Layered, deep yet unmistakeably Chambolle nose that is immensely charming. Initially the palate doesn't disappoint either, being relatively plump and silky and then finishing with bracing freshness. However with time the acidity begins to dominate and the overall impression is of a rather thin wine. A showcase for 2007's strengths and weaknesses.

Tasted first blind, together with a 2010 by Markus Ruch. Very light ruby red, still young looking. At first it gives an off-putting weird chemical whiff, but it quickly dissipates. Decanted for 3 hours. Medium light color with a wide clear rim. The nose is quite savory with herbs, earth, minerals and red fruit in the background. There's some richness on the palate and flavors of iron, black plum and cherry. Nice fresh acidity and medium body keep it light and lively. The tannins are well absorbed and this pretty, feminine is ready to drink now and will continue to provide pleasure for several more years. Now through 2019
