Very tight when I had a glass with Coravin, even with the aerator. Broke down and decanted it for around 45 minutes to drink with NY strip. Whole different world. Still didn't like as much as more fruit-forward Napa cabs.

Very dark red color. Splash decanted and drank a glass plus over 2 hours at the Ranch. This had a deep nose of intense pipe tobacco, pretty dark and succulent fruits, cassis, damp earth, and dried spices. The palate adds in plum and black cherry to the cassis notes. In a good spot, but it feels like there's more coming yet. 92+pts.

Opened to breathe about 3 hours before steak dinner and enjoyed the aroma as I decanted an hour later. First taste still had good tannin and body, especially for a 15 year old wine. Flavors of tobacco with a hint of berry on the finish. Drinkable now but could age longer.

A beautiful wine with a lot of life left. Licorice and chocolate on the nose. I’m so happy to have two more bottles. Opened for about two hours before serving. The wine definitely got better with more oxygen. It is not at all breaking down at the edges in terms of color. This wine is just fantastic. Just wish I had more of it.

Excellent wine this. Holding steady from my last taste back in 2021. There's more secondary development now. Still dry, dark fruited, and delicious. QPR at $60 in the wild is outrageous. On the hunt for more of this big game trophy.

91. Nose of raspberries and toast. Very well-rounded wine with notes of vanilla, raspberry, and leather. Has depth from beginning to end.

Monthly Tasting Group: California and Washington Cabs/Syrah (Estelle, St. Paul, MN) : Very dark red color. Double decanted for 45 minutes; drank a glass over 2 hours. I the vein of old school Napa cabs, elegant and balanced, with charm. Cassis, red currants, red berries, blood orange, dried earthiness, delicate spice and dust on the nose. The palate is medium full bodied, black cherry, red berries, cassis, mouth watering, dried wood, dusty tannins. Classy. 92+ to 93pts.

Remarkably similar to my '12 Smith Madrone at the same table. Crazy! I happen to love this retro cuvee from Inglenook. Having tasted there in '71 at age 16 w/ my parents who were retailers will always make this place and its cabs special for me. Even though this sold for a whopping $6.50 retail back then :).

Decanted for about 2 hours before enjoying with a steak dinner. Maturing nicely and still enough backbone (with medium tannin) to stand up to the meal. Think this will perfect in another 2-4 years.

Very dark red/purple color. PNP, drank 2 glasses over 2.5 hours. There's a deep nose of cassis and blackberry pie, nice spice, dark chocolate, and hints of espresso. The palate is full bodied with cassis and red berries, wood spice, dust and round tannins. Very good. Held up well the next day.

By the time we moved onto the Rubicon, this one was just really starting to sing. This was so good... Rutherford post card perfect wine. In my sweet spot for bottle age and with so much going on. Huge nose. Dusty mineral tannins supporting black and red fruits wrapped in licorice and tar. Rich mouthfeel and beautiful balance. Endless finish. I'd put this up against the Rubicon any day and could not be disappointed... ever.

8.5/10 - Drinking well now. Heavy but smooth velvet texture with balanced acid. Dark fruits with a touch of earthiness. Still some heat from the alcohol but doesn't detract.

Pushing 10yrs old this is really in a nice place. Especially, on night 2 with one pour left. So aromatic with lots of cigar box in my Burg glass. The palate is now so resolved and supple with the extra 24hrs plus. Just beautiful. Wish I had more! Several more :).

Very dark red color. PNP, drank 2 glasses over 2 hours plus. A blend of 85% Cabernet-Sauvignon, 12% Cabernet Franc and 3% Merlot. I'm not sure I can say it better than my note from 6/26/20. Tart blackcurrants and blackberries, soft, medium bodied, a little green edge, twigs, astringent, with fine tannins.
