Great concentration and fruit quality, but very young and primary. Will be more enjoyable in 10 years.

It had everything and paired with a New York Strip very well. On the nose was pencil shavings, herbs, red fruit, and a brightness that was very inviting. On the palate the fruit shined and the tannins were grippy but with a softer edge and there was plenty of acidity to keep things interesting.

Vancouver International Wine Festival - Feb 2025 (Vancouver) : Wine seminar at Vancouver International Wine Festival. Favorite of the "West Coast Wine Allstars" seminar, but no surprise given my love of Ridge. Dark plum, white pepper, eucalyptus notes. High acidity, high tannins, long finish. This definitely needs time, but already drinking nicely with some air. 92+ points.

Joyously concentrated fruit that is balanced by a zip of acidity that makes it hard for me not to gulp it! It was not poetic but has the energy of ACDCs Back In Black!

Deep dark garnet in color, almost opaque. Full, forward & attractive nose of ripe dark fruit aromas of cherries blackberries & currants with overtones of floral & earthy/dusty notes, spices, mocha, tar, leather, tobacco, graphite & a hint of oak/vanilla in the background. Full bodied with a very good concentration of well balanced & smooth texture, plush, ripe fruit flavors of dark cherries, blackberries & plums with spices, minerals, herbs & a hint of oak/vanilla. Lingering smooth finish. Drinks well …

Phenomenal. Enjoyed with leg of lamb after a 2 hour decant. Drank well, rich and supple and mild tannin. Corked and revisited 2 days later expecting lots of decline. To my surprise, it was still nearly as solid as it was 2 days prior. Would recommend a minimum 2 hour decant, but otherwise in a nice drinking window. Perfect wine for a Sunday roast.

Tasted at K&L Tasting event. Quick note: Very unique taste, getting lots of herbs (sage or rosemary), dark fruits, pleasant and lean mouthfeel. Very soft but reserved. Need some time but solid

This has all the right elements but it’s in its infancy. Tightly wound black fruit, some modest oak poking through, a little dill/baking apice, eventually some oregano/greenery poking through for the cabernet. Very high tannin, medium plus acid, let these sleep.

I prefer Ridge Cab at about 10yrs but tried this now out of curiosity and to inform whether to grab a few more for aging. Not surprisingly it has the right elements but needs to settle down and integrate, in particular the oak (50% new / 50% one year old). 13.3% abv

Dark youthful purple/ruby. Very viscous with touch of coloring/extract. Nose shows clear American oak with dill, coconut, the fruit is initially slightly shut down under that oak, but slowly opens up with notes of black fruit, dark cherries, red plums and some cedar/cigar box notes. Palate is vibrant, intense with dark fruits, cassis, red plums, dark cherries, vanilla, creme de cassis, and nice acidity. Finishes long, somewhat complex with a nice note of slightly tart red currants and very grippy …

A Visit to Ridge Lytton Springs Estate (Healdsburg) : 84% sauvignon with 16% merlot. Lovely bouquet with violets, black currants, purple fruit, red berries and sweet tobacco. Full-bodied with firm but fine tannins and flavors of black fruit, boysenberry, plum and white pepper. Balanced.

From 1/2 bottle. Opened for one hour. Color is deep garnet with some purple. On the nose: Cassis, leather, plum and a bit of graphite. On the palate: Cassis, plum, dark chocolate and dusty astringent tannins. Well made and elegant but tannins too predominant right now. I think it’s going to be very good but needs lots of time. Put it away for 3-5 years. I am storing the rest of mine at back of cellar.

As a control in comparison to 2020 tasted blind to assess if fire smoke taint had occurred to the 2020. We had 4 tasters and one non-taster but excellent nose and none noticed smoke. this is a well made Cabernet with no rough edges and well balanced. An excellent mid week drinker that is not cerebral We were not really able to detect a major difference between them and that must be credit to the blending and selection at Ridge.

Tight on the nose even after double decanting, this is gradually showing notes of pencil lead, cedar, spice, and cherry. More expressive on the palate, with fleshy tart plums framed with fine but powerful tannin. Definitely a wine for 6-10 years from now.

Ridge Lytton Springs on a Long Weekend (Ridge Vineyards Lytton Springs) : The hype behind Ridge cabs exists for a reason. Not too big, red fruit forward with gum-sucking medium tannins. R likes it, which is remarkable for a cab. I'm not dying for it, but it's quite tasty.

13.3% Mellow dark fruit. Slight gingerbread. Slight warm olive. Hint of cocoa. Hint of coffee. Not a ton of depth of fruit on the nose. High tannins. Strong med plus acid. Quite good but quite young. Decanted in the morning.

dark purple and medium body. a whiff of sweet vanilla on the nose of plum, black currant, and mulberry with tobacco, cocoa and ash accents. reticent in mouth still, but showing excellent balance: powdery tannic structure, good fruit concentration, and fresh acidity. long finish that shows layered complexity in the aftertaste. "second" wine to Monte Bello, but still a good showcase of the winemaking prowess at Ridge. this needs three or so more years of bottle age still and will …

As part of Ridge’s virtual tasting, this newly released Cab was featured. It’s a blend of 84% Cabernet Sauvignon and 16% Merlot. Given its youth, we decanted for about an hour and a half. It was almost blue black when first opened, but developed an inky deep purple opaque core with only the thinnest rim of plum. Primary flavors of plum, cassis, cigar and mint. The finish is all licorice and vanilla. Angular tannins but with a decent decant this …
