Initially a bit hot and flat, but after a couple of hours the heat disappeared, replaced by citrus and a nice buttery texture. Really nice.

Somewhat of a thick mouthfeel, ripe citrus/tropical fruits, heavy buttery oak, low acidity. this wine works for an aggressively styled Cali chard, but would be better if it were more balanced.

rich and thick mouthfeel, nice toastey butter flavor, but restrained and not over the top.

Quite different than it was 16 months ago. The cloudiness has almost vanished (ending up as tan 'sediment' on the side of the bottle). Carefully decanted. Initial nose and flavor is like a pear tart with a touch of honey and lemon. Texture is buttery, but not heavy. Still some mineral/stone on the palate as well. Medium bodied, lemony yellow color. My only complaint would be the finish....it's a bit hot...the 14.6% alcohol tends to linger on too long.

2/18/09: Cloudy yellow color (note to sell to let stand a few hours): Nose of apple, creme brulee, hazel notes and brioche. This is a delicious wine with lots of leesiness, honey, baked bread, citrus and stone fruit. Almost full bodied, with great depth, balance and structure and long mineral laced finish.

Cloudy. Straw colored. Loads of minerality. Chalky/flaky texture, leaving a very dry finish. Only the slightest hints of pear and lemon zest. I couldn't detect oak at all. This is very much like a white burgundy wine. I wasn't expecting this. I personally prefer a more even balance of minerality and fruit, but this is a great example of this particular style of wine. 90-92 pts

Cloudy yellow with some greenish hints-like the color of a golden delicious apple. You pick up some alcohol on the nose at first but it quickly gives way to an oak and buttery sense with the fruit staying back. Probably the best characteristic of the wine is its weight and texture. It is reserved at first taste not much of an attack. The finish is similarly reserved but not short.

Apple, pear, minerals, great bottle. I just wish I wasn't so full of Turkey when we got to it.

Very yeasty. Not defined. A solid chard, but very overpriced (and overrated).

Nice bottle of chard...a bit over oaked, not terribly extracted but it's pretty harmonious. It is not the equal of its Pinot or Zin cousins from Martinelli.

I confess to being an unabashed fan of Martinelli Chardonnays (maybe because this is the closest I can come to drinking Marcassin?) I enjoy the richness of the mouthfeel and the buttery aspects, and this Woolsey Road does not disappoint. True, the oak is noticeable, but I also did not wait for this wine to fully integrate, I suspect. This wine is cloudy (as always) and spicy, with some alcohol on the nose and hints of green apple, and fig …

A nice rich Chard with minerals, pear and slight creme brulee in the nose.

Rich yeasty, leesy nose with buttery toast and some more delicate flowery notes dancing above it. Smooth and mellow, neither crisp nor creamy mouthfeel, with a dollop of lemon curd and a well-integrated finish with hints of its oak.
