Fantastic... 5 hours bottle breath, orange peel, gun powder, sweet-floral nose, ripped prune, bayleaf ... complex stuff, extended long finishing.

The nose had an oxidized smell that initially gave me concern, since I have had a number of Nebbiolo's a decade or more in age that have been oxidized. But I was pleasantly surprised by the taste. On the palate, the wine had good acidity and fine grain tannins, and a taste of earthiness, red plum, herbs, cherry, and tobacco. The mouthfeel was quite nice and lively. However, given the oxidized nose, I would not wait any longer to open …

Part 2 Produttori del Barbaresco 2009 horizontal. Aired in bottle few hours beforehand. Tasted semi-blind. Drank in Conterno Sensory. Appearance is clear, pale intensity, ruby colour. Legs. Nose is clean, medium intensity, with aromas of sour red cherries, red plums. Developing. On the palate, dry, high acidity, medium+ alcohol (14.5%), fine high tannins, full body. Medium+ flavour intensity, with flavours of sour red cherries, soft red plums, fine young earth, spices. Long grippy mouth-filling finish. Very good quality. Mostly still …

Drink soon. This might just be an instance of bottle variation, but the wine was a lot more evolved than I would have expected. It's very tasty, but the tannins are fully resolved, the acidity is quite low, and the tertiary flavors are emerging.

Opened an slow ox'd for almost 4 hours. We went with friends to a local BYOB where they decanted the bottle for us. Red fruit and flowers on the nose. The palate is cherry, plums, pipe tobacco and sweet spices. The finish is nice and long. Drank alongside a 2010 Capanna Riserva and this was the preferred wine of the evening. 93+

Likely the best Barbaresco I have ever had. 2009 is turning out to be a truly wonderful vintage for Barbaresco. The balance in the Paje is just superb with only soft, fine grained tannin on the finish. The palate is full of bright, lively fruit. Just a magnificent wine.

Tasted double blind. Intriguing color, somewhat opaque crimson with orange hues. Bouquet of all things cherry, strikingly so: cherry pie, candy, cough drops, cough syrup, potpourri, etc., with rhubarb, mint, and wintergreen undertones, and wafting hints of rose oils and orange marmalade. The bouquet strongly suggested Italy, possibly Barbaresco, based on the bouquet's prettiness), but the deep color, and paucity of roses and absence of tar notes told otherwise. Massive cherry on the attack to early middle, along with sweetened …

CT rating is low. This is better wine. Mint. Eucalyptus. Menthol. Ripe plum. Cherry. Some soil and wet leaves. Clearly Italian.

Not as heavy on the rose or tobacco/leather as rabaja and a little drier, but got long finish.

Denne kan fint drikkes nå, men tåler godt noen år til i vinskapet for å slipe tanninene enda mer ned. God på smak og fin struktur. En del sedimenter gjør at vinen med fordel kan dekanteres.

Rather stewed on the nose; quite darkly complected. Soft texture on palate entry and tannic immediately as it enters the mouth. Surprisingly thin in fruit flavor considering that stewed nose. Bitter and stewed on the finish. Puckering acidity. Just too hefty.

Terrific. One of the better wines from the vintage. Earthy and fruity bouquet and an elegant palate. Round and delicious with a lengthy finish.

Generous with fresh and pure fruit of high quality, mainly from raspberries. The acidity is refreshing and precise but there is some dryness in the tannins.

Tasting all the 2009 Cru's with Aldo Vacca of Produttori del Barbaresco (E&R Wine Shop, Portland OR) : There are four owners of Pajé. Based upon my prior note, I bet this wine was a bit reduced upon pouring. The aromas are a little funky, and also expressing some dusty gravel and weird plastic shavings. Creamy on the soft palate entry. Mild and balanced tannin and acid; quite forward in the palate. Puckering acid on the finish and tastes a …

Softer, higher toned aromas than the Rio Sordo. Lovely fruit. The palate offers pretty palate texture and nice soft red fruit. Pretty mellow, with lighter tannins. Soft finish and really pretty, bright red fruit. Soft and seamlessly balanced on the tart finish.

Produttori del Barbaresco 2009 Riservas with Aldo Vacca : The vineyard is a small bowl facing South/West between the village and the famous Asili vineyard. A good red colour. A lovely, ripe, red fruited bouquet, particularly of red cherries and raspberries, showing attractive spiciness. Approachable on palate with lively acidity, bright red fruit flavours, particularly red cherries, and small grained tannins. Obviously, you can cellar the Paje but you can also drink it young. I preferred it to the Pora.

Fruit was quiet on this one, more savory with tobacco leaf and minerals. Tasted at Vintages with all 9 single vineyards -- not among my favorites, but interesting and worth a few to continue a vertical.
