This followed an oxidized 2007 Leonetti merlot so was almost literally a breath of fresh air, although objectively I would say it is on the down-slope. It was nevertheless still exhibiting decent amounts of fruit, was well-integrated, and was overall enjoyable .

I brought this to a Seattle area blind tasting of eight (8) WA Bordeaux style reds with >50% Cabernet Sauvignon. Group's #3 in blind tasting of 8 wines. When tasting, I thought my wine was what turned out to be the 2012 Figgins, which was my #3 and the group's #2. Group results: (lower points = better) 1st: 2016 Quilceda Creek Cabernet Sauvignon, 23 points. 4 first place votes 2nd: 2012 Figgins Estate Red Wine, 27 points. 3 first place …

Sweet red fruit on the nose. Full bodied with a long finish. Very velvety with well integrated tannins. Lots of fruit up front with leather and maple coming through. Very good.

This family is really putting out some outstanding wine. Bouquet was very fruity at beginning, softened a bit after decanting. Needs about an hour or two decant. But, worth the wait. Blend is left bank, but flavor is more reminiscent of right bank Bordeaux. Layers and complexity with long finish. Great wine for the money, am stocking up on this one. Can't wait to try 2009 and 2010 vintages.

Reverting back to scotch, I watched as Ted and Mike Enjoyed the first sips of a 2008 Figgin’s Estate Cabernet. You are supposed to enjoy wine with all five senses and this time I also enjoyed watching them enjoy. The first pour was gooey and sticky almost jammy. I chugged my scotch to get into this action. Mean dark inky purple in the glass, and grasping the sides with the legs of an octopus. Berries, cherries, and orchard fruits galore. …

Day one- deep and dark fruit , very tight with stringent tannins. Should have the complexity and muscle to age well but very young right now. I will wait 4-5 years before I grab the next one out of the cellar. Opened up a bit on day two but still needs some time.
