Chilled for roughly an hour prior to serving. Tasted several times over the course of four hours. I had high hopes but this was a depressing wine. No nose to speak of and very thin/dilute on the palate. Not sure if we got a bad bottle so I won't score it. The expectations were much higher.

Tasting Riesling at Jos. Christoffel Jr. (Ürzig, Germany) : The nose is full and lovely showing great dried apple and mineral scents backed by a touch of rose petals. It’s delicate and elegant on contact, with a faint touch of red apples. The apples slowly intensify as the acidity sets in with lime flavor. Fruit grows in roundness and intensity as the acidity dries more and more fully through the mid palate. Peaches decorate the apples a bit on the …

Nice light golden color. Lots of petrol/rubber on the nose, unmistakable aged riesling smell, with some baked apple. On the palate, quite smooth, with more rubber, baked apples and some lemon/lime. Lovely, classy mouthfeel, very balanced, with just the right acidity to balance the sweetness. As previous tasters have noted, the long, complex finish is what saves this wine. Up until the finish it seems a bit tired, with everything somewhat muted. But the finish builds and builds in a …

Blind Mosel Riesling (Willamette Wine Storage) : I wasn't getting much on this subtle nose after that previous intense boiled cabbage wine. What was there was textural, light, and graceful. The palate shows some sugar building on the tongue, and as it warms up it gets nicer with very pleasing balanced acidity. Fantastic balance and grace on the palate. The finish is where this wine kills... my first sip I swallowed with out paying much attention, and I was all …

WWS Riesling Night (WWS) : Ripe apples and some petrol on the nose, along with a faint herbal note. This shows some great acid on contact! Crisp and clean apple flavors are perfectly integrated with a hint of honeysuckle and the wonderful acidity. There's a hint of richness that rises early on the finish, but always stays underneath the clean acidity. The balance on this is just killer! The apples are more and more delicious as I take more sips. …

Petrol and apples on the nose; lemons, minerals and apples on the palate. This wine was flawless. Absolutely delicious. Not complex enough to warrant a higher score, but very very enjoyable.

At first tight and even drying on the palate, with air opens to become a wine of fine precision, with an almost extravagant aroma of tropical fruit (esp. passionfruit), modest spatlese-like sweetness on the attack, and nice cut on the linear finish. On the second night the aromas are less extravagant, the sweetness a touch broader on the palate, and a bit of that mineral-driven Mosel lime twist shows on the finish. Very clean, pure, and precise, with a good …
