Some green notes, big wine with dark fruit, high alcohol and monolithic. Strong but well integrated tannins, long finish. Much more civilized on day two.

Over the course of three nights, this was surprisingly straightforward and rather one dimensional. Good to drink but never developed the complexity or depth I would have expected. Perhaps an off night or a weird phase for the wine but we'll hold next bottle for a few years.

Sublime wine with flavors of blueberries, jam, mocha with smooth tannins and a long finish.

Drank a glass from a Coravin. Very powerful wine, high alcohol without being hot. With some vigorous swirling, opens up nicely in the glass after twenty minutes. Its a nice wine, would say a notch below the Shakti, the 2014 vintage. 92 points.

I kind of like this at the start- it shows a truckload of fumey alcohol, but starts off ripe but not overripe, enough acidity to buffer the density of fruit. After several hours I revisit, and the fruit has gotten riper and more prune-like, with noticeable residual sugar, and becomes the caricature of a wine that I was expecting before I tasted it. Like Meiomi with a splash of tawny port added.

Assez dur comme vin au niveau des tannins, strict, un peu fermé.

This clear and deep red wine was poured and drank without decanting. It had a nose and flavours of black cherries and a small amount of tobacco at the end. The tannins and acidity were at light to medium levels. Overall, this was a lovely bottle on this occasion.

Popped and drank 6 hours later. Xmas eve dinner paired with whole roasted duck. Just seamless. 2017 Verite Le Joie was the other wine on the table

Dark garnet purple, completely opaque. Don't get much aroma, but what there is is blackberry and other dark fruits. Very high extract fruit, very viscous, very tannic. Flavors big and powerful but one-dimensional. Very long, somewhat hot aftertaste. Hopefully it will soften and gain complexity in 3-5 years. I'll hold my others until then. Tasted alongside 2015 SQN syrah, virtually identical. Ric

Wonderful mouthfeel. Like chewing dark cherries. 3.5 hour decant and could have gone another hour or two.

This was a graceful as the Cayuse En Cerise we had the same evening, but more powerful. Blackberry, blueberry, framboise and cigar box on the nose, adding some earthy notes when tasted but still incredibly smooth.

Just brilliant. I opened and slow ox'd the wine for 8 hours then put the cork back in and took it to a BBQ. The nose was dark cherry. The palate was intense with swirling flavors of black cherry, raspberry, currants, sweet pipe tobacco, sandalwood and spices. The finish was very long and smooth. Wish I had more.

Decanted for 3 hours before drinking. 75% Grenache, 13% Mourvèdre, 8% Touriga Nacional and 4% Petite Sirah. The name of this wine translates to "the path to heresy". Blackish purple color. Like most SQN wines this was big with huge tannins at this age. Notes of black currant, canning spices and iron. This was stil a bruiser and not in it's best drinking window yet in my opinion. Difficult to score but it will be a fine wine with time …

This followed an extraordinary Bond, so maybe that colored my view because the Bond was so perfect, but I thought this wine had some green pepper notes and some fruit that was not perfectly ripe. A well made wine, but it just didn't hit it out of the park for me. Nice, but I expected more from an SQN.

Small SQN Dinner with Friends (Eagle Brook CC) : Decanted approximately six hours and served at cool room temp alongside the Eleven Confessions "E." Aromas of raspberry, blueberry, white pepper and lavender. Still rather tannic, with black raspberry fruit dominating the palate. Over the course of dinner, the palate becomes more red-fruited. Lengthy finish.

Decanted for two hours. Opening up well, this is evolving in a dreamy fashion. Blueberries, fried ramen, teak, cranberries and granite, with some red spice. Long and focused, with layers of flavor and style. Silky tannins; dense in a certain way. This lingers and is addicting. So approachable. Drink now - 2032.

Billiets USA vs AUS Grenaches (Billiet's Bordelo) : Could tell this was another SQN, this was more voluptuous than wine #2, Red and blue fruits, some spice, white pepper and chocolate. Incredible finishGroups 2/6, my 2/6.

6 hour decant. Nose shows burnt chocolate and menthol on top of blueberry and raspberry. Palate shows smooth blue and red fruit with well-integrated soft tannins. Long finish is fruit dominated with acidic lift. Look forward to seeing this one develop. Paired with Flannery bone-in ribeyes.

WWC - JL (FWC) : Tasted blind - deep purple in the glass, nose of raisins plus red fruit - so almost stewed red fruit. But fresh on the palate, medium plus tannins, and raspberries. I guessed a Grenache based wine.

Similar to my first note a few years back this one is still in an skewed stage. Slightly harsh and hot (even on day two) with the fruit seeming burnt and accompanied by a good helping of oak. I’d give this another 4-5 years.

had it decanting 6+ before the first snifter, where the nose came back with strong gasoline notes .... which dissipated after 2h approx. I assume the next bottle must be open 8h++. After this it was the usual SQN fireworks - chunky elegant cherry vanilla smokey bacon ..... was enjoyed to the max
